Lost count of the times people have said it’s a free hit, I’d take a point, we won’t get anything……. And we end up winning, getting something. We are better than folks are giving us credit for, I doubt NJ ever goes into a game thinking he can’t win. We’re competing in every game and expect us to do so again tomorrow.

Thanks FA - Kieran McKenna very complimentary in EAD Times article
I don't predict scores.....I'm just looking fwd to watching it on TV, staying away as my last 3 visits to Portman rd
lost 2-0,3-0, 4-0 & driving back from West Country so it isn't possible to head East for this away game.

I would like to see TC rested and Miles and Kelman to start. TC looked tired on Saturday
not surprised, after two internationals and two long flights.
TC + CK partnership hasn't clicked yet so maybe this is one for Miles (or Tanto) to partner CK for first 60mins, with TC as a sub.....
I'm sure goals will come soon from our strikers....COYA's.

Not enough to be bombarded with ads from East Anglian Times, or to pay for the privilege not to be, no thanks...🤦‍♂️

lol, hope so, I think he was trying to be complementary, but sounds a little condescending, but might be me being touchy. Feel like we are still being underestimated by quite a few.

Just stick a copy on the wall and use as part of the team talk before the match, should do the trick!!

A point would be a great result here. Just hope we play well and do what we do best. Frustrate them and keep it tight. Never know going into the last 10 minutes or so and we do have a bit of a habit of scoring late goals. UTA.

The free hit thing is nuts, imagine if NJ came out and said that. He would be slaughtered!

I have mentioned that I think Ipswich may win due to having a better squad/team but I am under no illusions that we should be scrapping for everything and not rolling over. We can certainly nick a result if we are at it! To say its a free hit is defeatist
Not to mention we are above them in the table, albeit having played a game more (but the game in hand is due to the late abandonment of a match they were losing).

    Where does he say little?

"You can't take anything for granted. We are expecting a really awkward team to come and make it really, really difficult for us on Tuesday night."

This, to me, sounds like exactly what Nathan Jones wants us to be - at least to begin with until we have rally settled in at this level and found our own rhythm.

Lots of teams, Ipswich included, will be able to beat us if they are at their best but most teams are not at their best every match. NJ's game plan is built entirely around us being as close to our best as we can be by being a bloody nuisance to play against, which also makes it more likely the opposition can't be their best, and then it's about us capitalizing on the opportunities that may arise if we are able to force them into an off day.

Last time I landed in the town of Ipswich was to witness a performance so poor so shite I very nearly gave up my aways altogether (6-0) a couple of seasons back. Now I travel with a real belief that a point is definitely on the cards and my heart is set on nicking all 3.
The refs have been almost as bad as League 1. And what Stan Laurel was doing Saturday was beyond parody.
It’s about time we didn’t have to pay any attention to the officials.
Kelman is working hard and I am sure he will prove to a lot of critics that he’s the finished product. Be nice to start tomorrow night.
Difficult away fixture, but that’s why I go

    I BELIEVE!!

Despite what Mckenna says, I hope that Ipswich underestimate us, 'little ol' Charlton' and play relatively poorly. We can then zap them with our pressing game. 0 - 1.

Campbell is the out ball. Without it we stay under pressure.
You only have to watch what happens when he is withdrawn.

Unless we up our performance from the last two outings, we will be in for a thrashing. I think the NJ stardust has worn off now, just in time for a run of tough opponents. Tackling, blocking, harassing, and chasing 40% advantage passes is extremely tiring, and that is beginning to show in their performances now that we have two games a week. The teams we will meet over the next six games have better players, man for man, and that will begin to tell when our players can no longer give over and above against more skillful players playing proper football, not Jones's "kick and chase".

We have done brilliantly so far, but must now face the reckoning. I reckon our next chance of three points is at home to Portsmouth, Dec 6th, by when we will be close to, if not in, the bottom three.

Agree with most of this. Relegation starts now and the sooner the better so we can rebuild for next season.
    WUM!  :D

  • This game is a free hit for Ipswich Town. If they win, they get three points. If they draw, we both get a point. If they lose, we get three points.

Thats up to Tanto or anyone else to prove people wrong.

Our defence is more important the TC though and any issues with them, id fear a good hiding.

Traditionally we do better as underdogs as proved again this season perhaps. Who knows, a point would be a decent result I reckon.
I would agree in the past we do better as underdogs, but not sure if the same can be said this season mate.

We’ve played 5 in the top half of the table and not won any of those (2 draws, 3 losses), compared to 5 games vs teams in the bottom half of the table where we’re unbeaten (4 wins, 1 draw).

Bit early in the season to consider who are top and bottom half and judge results/success/failure by that stat. 20games in would be a better barometer. The start of a season throws up some strange results. If we get the result against Ipswich tonight will that be because they are below us?, if so why are the majority expecting a loss and not a win?.

In recent times we have acquired the knack of suffocating teams and preventing them being at their best. Where it can go wrong, and this is mostly away, is where teams really go for us and get the first goal. But it seems to go right more than wrong, even at this higher level. The team will have been well rested so I don't see many changes. Maybe Bell and Campbell who were on international duty, but Jones will know the fitness and freshness situation there and that will be the consideration so we can't be aware of it sitting behind our keyboards.

When I say free hit I don’t mean give it up I mean all things considered we are underdogs so give a few players with a point to prove the chance to do so. That extra push might be enough to get a result

And we have two tough away games in the next 5 days. The same players can't go full throttle (with the way we play) in both, it's not physically possible, as shown by the Derby and Preston away games.

Nothing against TC and he’s brilliant but I’d just like to see Tanto start with Kelman with TC doing their last 30 of needed

the boy needs a bit of a rest
