Honestly got quite a bit of trepidation about tomorrow night , our last 2 trips to Portman Road have been absolute shambles. Hopefully there is a fair bit of rotation because it feels like it's needed.

Mmmm, I think the midfield may be something to look at changing when it comes to quick succession of games, that was the area that where we surrendered ground in the second period against Derby and on Saturday against Sheff Wed there were some tired legs in the second half. I think that Nathan Jones has relied on replacing the front two in an effort to effect change, it didn't achieve much against Derby and the same can be said about Saturdays game. Costello and Anderson on the bench to give us options and maybe even an appearance from the bench for Apter, I would agree with everything else that FA suggests, I think we will get a point.

I agree. If we take off the main pressers, Kelman and TC, we need somebody at 10 or up front to press instead. Maybe Apter up front or Anderson behind the front two. Leaburn can't do it, nor Tanto really.

We also got pumped by Rotherham away 4-2. We are definitely susceptible to an away tonking against an attack minded team, not sure why that's been denied.

At home I would say unlikely, away, I always feel there is a chance against teams like this of a high score.

Personally think this game is a step too far for us right now. We ended poorly vs Derby, useless vs Preston, and I know we beat Wednesday, but they're essentially a pub team currently, and we made it difficult for ourselves to get those 3 points, and I think Nathan Jones energy at full time showed that.

Ipswich have a higher quality of player than almost every team in this league, look like a fitter team, more experience as a squad, and a good team at home. I am expecting a disappointing evening of football, but will travel knowing full well it's Nathan Jones Charlton, and any team could be on the end of a 1 nil thrashing and an abundance of opposition fans tears can come streaming.

Head says 3-1 Ipswich, heart says we can keep it tight and sneak a 1 nil away win.

Two years they surprised everyone with back to back promotions from League One to the Premier League... Like Luton Town 12-months before, it perhaps came as no surprise when the Tractor Boys got relegated from the top flight. But understandably, given how they've impressed under McKenna, they were favourites to make an instant return to the top table.
Naturally its still early days, but Ipswich have struggled to really get going so far this campaign, the hangover from relegation still potentially hanging over Portman Road, after all we saw how that effected Luton Town - Yet even still, Ipswich might find themselves in midtable, however they've only lost the two games this season, a 1-0 loss away at Preston North End in August, and then a 2-1 defeat at high flying Middlesbrough on Friday night... Its winning games that are the biggest issue, they've drawn just as many that they've won. Although they did finally manage to defeat Norwich in the "Old Farm Derby" for the first time in 14-games... Congrats... We're sooo happy for you!!
In terms of the squad, and Ipswich have lost individuals; Omari Hutchinson a key figure in their last two seasons left for Nottingham Forest, whilst long serving Sam Morsy departed for Kuwait - Incomings have included the experienced Ashley Young, whilst Onel Hernandez will surely be delighted to be reunited with Marcelino Núñez, the first player to directly cross the East Anglia divide since 2001.

Nathan Jones admitted recently that his squad management could have been better during our last round of Saturday / Tuesday fixtures. As a result we may finally see a bit of squad rotation, which could well see Onel Hernandez coming into the team, if he does then its possibly he'll slot in at Left Wing-Back ahead of what would be a warm welcome from the home faithful at Portman Road.
On the other hand, you'd expect us to once again go with the settled forward line-up that includes; Tyreece Campbell, Charlie Kelman and Sonny Carey, the latter on the scoresheet once again on Saturday afternoon, and has now clear daylight as our top scorer in 2024/25 - All three individuals were predictably withdrawn with 20-minutes and 15-mins left on the clock, so as a result you'd expect them to once again start this Tuesday evening.
Elsewhere and Kayne Ramsay ahead of Reece Burke is another "obvious" option for Nathan Jones to opt for, whilst Joe Rankin-Costello made a rare appearance from the bench on Saturday, so could well come in for James Bree, but then again that would be the more surprising choice given the "habits" that we've seen from our Welsh Manager this season.

This on paper is our most difficult so far .. most fans will have this down as a defeat fingers crossed Ipswich don’t get it right on the night cause if they do this could be a bad defeat …team news , after a tough physical game on Saturday there has to be one of two changes .. Ramsey , Apter , Olaofe could all start as one or two players looked jaded second half on Saturday ….. prediction hope I am wrong Ipswich 3-0 Charlton

I would like to see a few changes for this one as I’m very much in the free hit club. Our season won’t be decided on this result so I think it’s a perfect game to start Tanto and Apter alongside Kelman unfortunately I can’t see NJ thinking along those lines and I expect an unchanged side

I have mentioned that I think Ipswich may win due to having a better squad/team but I am under no illusions that we should be scrapping for everything and not rolling over. We can certainly nick a result if we are at it! To say its a free hit is defeatist

Agree. We’re undoubtedly underdogs, but underdogs come out on top quite often in football. If we can get a lead then our defence is up there with the best. There’d be every chance. Worry about the way we’ve tired in games, but doesn’t rule us out.
