Same as against Derby, we take off the attackers capable of pressing and then can’t get out of our own half for 25 mins. Any decent team would have punished us there so I really hope Jones finally gets over this weird obsession with taking Kelman off so early, and combines him with someone else later in games. With that said, we did deserve the win and any win is good.
  • We somehow managed to make hard work of that but a win is a win and another three points on the board.
  • Eff me. The more you see that, the more you realise just what an incredibly dangerous challenge that was. Indeed, it is almost verging on assault.

The keeper should have the book thrown at him for that.

Harsh to blame the change of play on the forward subs imo who looked alright when they came on olaofe was pressing and leaburn was winning headers,we had a decent period first ten mins second half of turnovers 10-15 yards from their box which we kept messing up,we got overrun in midfield imo and they was passing it around us we needed legs in there.

Sonny looking an early contender for POTY. However we always make things hard for ourselves. Should have been out of sight but well done to the boys for a win.

Carey tiring is the main reason we are worse after the break, not the striker subs.

At the moment Carey is both our main goal scoring threat AND the best attacking presser, but he can't do this for more than 60 minutes.

Made hard work of that after a very good first half.

Kelman deserved the full 90, thought he was excellent with his running and hold up play, Leaburn offered nothing - Tanto should’ve replaced TC (who looked well off the pace following a clearly busy week)

    Carey was outstanding, absolutely everywhere

  • Thought Wednesday looked very good for a club and squad in such dire straits. For the first time in a long time we looked vulnerable at the back at home.

You can see it’s starting to click with Kelman, almost snuffed out a chance for himself, for a minute I thought godden was on the pitch. He clearly has quality on the ball.

Tanto needs to start, love his attitude and he runs for absolutely everything.

That was not a good performance today. Even when we were 2-0 up at HT I felt uncomfortable as we really hadn’t been playing well. Two good goals, yes, but we had been sloppy and were losing possession a lot. So it didn’t surprise me when they pulled one back in the 2nd and I remarked to my mate that I thought we would go on and lose that. But, we hung on.

It wasn’t pretty today and we didn’t play well but 3 points is 3 points and I’ll take it. Nathan Jones will not be happy with that performance though. Unlike, really, how we’ve been so far this season.
First half we were all over them and we played well. 2nd half we sat back and let them in.

Would have taken TC off for Tanto or Leaburn and kept Kelman on. Thought he played well and was unlucky not to score.

Could have been sent off for the challenge as well as the handball AND preventing a goal scoring opportunity.

Maybe but it wasn't that part of the pitch where they was overloading us from what I see they was getting around our midfield two much more easily and giving it to the wing.
  • Superb win. Well done Charlton.

Completely agree. Mids looked tired, coventry was on a yellow, thought he would bring on anderson/jrc earlier

I wouldn't disagree,  Coventry and Docherty are having to do a LOT of work at the moment.

I couldn’t disagree more. Carey is outstanding but TC and Kelman are occupying so many players, giving us great control of a game. That’s 3 games now it’s fallen apart once they’ve gone off. Couldn’t we make the change at 70mims at least. I also think Leaburn is just not at it right now. It’s like he’s moving in slow motion trying to hold up the ball and inevitably losing possession. TC and Kelman really stretch the opposing team’s defence giving us more dominance in midfield. I don’t care if TC and Kelman, never score, as they give us control and allow players like Carey and Bree to capitalise.

Nathan's first subs was a big mistake. It was not the front two who were the problem it was the midfield. They could not win the ball back or hold the ball up.
Lee urn and Oloafe did not help out in defense as TC and even Kelman did.

     That's shocking
And even after that the keeper still came off worse, Tanto is a bit of a beast.

Would like to see him start and then allow TC to come on and find the space behind the defenders who have been battered for 70 minutes and are just wanting to get the coach home.

When we can criticise Kelman for being a total dud?

You're just outing yourself as not watching the games tbh.

Firstly, I didn't think Wednesday were the worse team we've faced this season and, at times, their fans were loud.

Wednesday came to fight but this Nathan Jones side is happy to match that with our own grit and a bit of skill.

We deserved our lead at HT and we were in control until the hour.

Our subs unsettled us while theirs gave them a lift.

Their goal had been coming and they were pinning us back.

But we dug in and were seeing the game out until the ref had a total brain part.

Missing the foul on Knibbs as he ran into the box was bad enough but he then seemed to ignore the most blatant foul and red card you will see all season.

Ok, play on for two seconds to see if there is an advantage to two players are lying on the ground and he ignores that too.

Did he miss it or just bottle it?

I assume the lino put him right.

Either way it was appalling and he then couldn't even get the wall right as its ten yards from the edge of the D to the penalty spot.

Thankfully, no consequences for us and we won.

Not the prettiest but 15 points after 10 games is 1.5 per game so bang on target for a top ten finish.

Four points on the road next week would be ideal.

I thought Kelman did well today.

He was against possibly the worst CB I’ve seen at this level, the young 22.

    Geezer just needs a goal.

That Sheffield Wednesday defence is the worse we’re going to play all the season the fact Kelman, Leaburn have struggled to make an impact yet again is concerning
Leaburn came on and won just about every header, but you crack on.
