    I restate my allegiance.

I hope that a third force emerges in Scotland to properly rival both of them although I normally prefer Celtic to Rangers.

The exception being that I was pleased Gerrard blocked the ten in a row being achieved because unlike Jock Stein in my view it wasn't a genuine football achievement because of Rangers relegations.

Hearts beating Rangers is actually a really bad result for Celtic and should be celebrated by most football fans who want to see genuine competition north of the border.

It is clear the men from Ibrox cannot challenge for the title this season and the fact that they always try harder in the Old Firm games will probably mean the Hoops drop more points against them as they already have.

If Hearts take maximum points against Rangers and hold there own versus Celtic it could make for an interesting challenge as long as they maintain a good record against the lower ranked teams.
I don't think Hearts will have enough to get near Celtic this season but if Tony Bloom continues to invest up there i think they could potentially challenge in 2-3 years time.

Going to be very difficult though because of the huge disparity in finances.

How much longer will Rangers give Martin? Almost feels like they need to put him out of his misery but the board aren't willing to admit the level of fuck up they've made.
I'm amazed he saw out the weekend to be honest. The only reason he's still there is surely because they have no one else lined up yet.

Might come sooner than 2-3 years. If Hearts continue to play like they are and Celtic continue to be as flat as they are, then we might actually get a title race this season.

Would still expect Celtic to end up winning it by at least 10 points though.

  • Another great night in Europe for Scotland. Scottish football really is in the gutter right now.

That goal disallowed for Celtic has to be one of the worst VAR decisions ever. Funny though

Watched a slow mo video of it online and can't see how on earth VAR thought it was handball. The trajectory/rotation of the ball doesn't even change. Beyond belief that someone looks at that and thinks 'yeah handball'.

That VAR decision was ridiculous and more so for the ref not even looking at it. That said, Schmeichel had an absolute mare last night and Braga absolutely deserved the win. Mood is pretty toxic against the board, but some of these players are really not justifying their places at the moment.

Rangers getting one win from 7 is hilarious.

Yes very lucky. Good point for the other mob though, widened the gap at the bottom and keeps Falkirk at arms length.

But at least Celtic scored some goals today.
  • We are into October and Rangers:

    Are 8th in the league
Have only scored 6 goals in 7 league games
    Have a minus goal difference
Have kept just 1 league clean sheet (bizarrely against Celtic)
Haven't won a home league game.
Have won just 5 in 17 in all competitions (and 1 of those was against Alloa)

Surely Martin can't still be in charge after the international break? I think you'd struggle to find a worse manager in their history.

If the rumours are true about Muscat I hope we can all agree Rangers deserve to be unsuccessful.

Not just an ex Spanner and a Nigel , but also what he did to Matt Holmes was beyond the pale.

Unfortunately he is a good manager and will make them extremely competitive.

He's a complete piece of shit. No idea how he didn't receive his comeuppance during his career. He also ended a career when he was in the A-League.

Disgrace of a player but seems to be a pretty decent manager.

Seen a few Rangers fans online questioning the level of the leagues in which he has won things (Australia, Japan, China) but i'd argue the Scottish league isn't much better than some of those, and it's a similar path to the one Ange took.

Ref trying his best to get them back into it with a penalty for handball. VAR fortunately over turned it.

In fairness to the ref, in real time, it did look like a pen.

Quite a historic win for Dundee as the last time they beat Celtic at dens park was way back in 1988.
  • Celtic and Rangers both look pretty pathetic right now. In 16 league games, they've won just 6 and only scored 19 goals between them. I can't remember the last time they were both this bad. 1 of them (usually Rangers) have been bad at times, but not both of them.

If Celtic don't improve soon then Hearts might actually be in a title race. They will go 8 points clear if they beat Celtic at Tynecastle next weekend.

Even if Hearts were five points clear with one match to go I would still have Celtic as favourites to win the title!

Yeah Celtic are still huge favourites, even if they're a fair way back after Christmas they will probably go and spend money in January to reel Hearts in.

It could at least be interesting if Hearts win next week though.

As I said a few months ago, I expected Hearts to come strong but not so soon.

Nor did I expect the Old Firm to make it so easy for them.
