way back from Cornwall, and it sounds as if Kanu has been injured since their last league fixture, and passes a late fitness test to play (according to the pre match comments from around the grounds). Could be the reason as to why he had an off day.Walsall fans are raving about him saying he’s far too good for L2 and they think they’ll lose him in January.Got home in time for the second half of the Colchester game. Mbick looks good. He looks stronger and smarter on the ball. Got into some really good positions and would’ve got a third if he was an inch taller.9 -

Then discarding them before signing some more ex Luton players.Braziliance said:
Have to remember though it is League 2. I would expect any of our youth on the brink of the first team to standout in League 1, let alone League 2.SantaClaus said:He looks transformed from the one paced, hesitant player I saw at the end of last season..
Good to see Kanu, Mbick & Asiimwe showing some consistency. Hopefully it stays that way and Jones can take a good look at them next season in pre-season etc6 -

The way he’s developing I’m sure he will be by next weekend.RugbyAddick said:

Nice interview. Unbelievable that he’s only 18, bless him.Scoham said:I feel like he should be known as “Mr 100%” 😉0 -
Danny Cowley: "He came to me after the game and said: 'I should've had three'. That tells me about his mentality. It's a big reason why he is the player he is and is going to go on and have a really good career." #cafc

You say that, but the way some players are rated on this forum after 5 games or so is insane.fenaddick said:
Apart from the fact he’s made 13 league appearances and no one has said he’s a 10m pound player who will play in the PLBostonaddick said:He’s made a total of six league appearances at 18 years old. Why don’t we let him play through a season including the ups and downs before we crown him the next ten million pound man who will star in the premier league. We always get way ahead of ourselves when it comes to our youth. Let’s let him develop at a normal pace instead of setting unrealistic expectations
I remember when Vetokele got here and after about 5 games people were genuinely worried that Chelsea might come in and buy him.
Boston's post is spot on. The comments about our youth being too good for a league are wide currently.
They should be too good for League 1 and 2, as we are meant to have a top academy, but until they prove it over 40+ games we should wait and see.8 -

I think people often confuse our academy punching above it's weight as meaning most of our academy players will be a success. Even for top PL clubs the majority of their academy players won't play EFL matches in their career, they all have players on loan in L1/2 who struggle or aren't too good for the league. Those players are just lower down their clubs pipeline, our top top prospects get poached before most of our fanbase have even heard their namesBraziliance said:

I do agree some judge our academy players too quickly though, both positively and negatively12

The great thing about sending Micah to work with the Cowleys - he won't come back having only improved at football. He'll also be better at cricket, cross-country and rounders.Scoham said:Danny Cowley: "He came to me after the game and said: 'I should've had three'. That tells me about his mentality. Not suggesting we should recall him because I think a season at League 2 level, like Kanu, will do him the world of good but I don't think we can do that can we? Both came on as subs (in different games) and I believe that they are, as such, prohibited from playing for a third club this season.Crispywood said:I wonder if we recall Mbick in January and see if we can send him on loan to a L1 club. I know it’s not always the right decision to uproot a player but if Mbick carries on this form he arguably needs to be tested at a higher level1 -
Vetokele was a top player until our crap medical staff made him play while having an achilles injury. I'm surprised he hasn't sued us for millions.4

Nice chat on the Cawley/Mendez pod about Mbick with a Colchester journo. It’s about 20 mins from the end2
 -
A couple of other points from the pod. NJ has said we have recall options for all of the loanees and Zach Mitchell had been coming back from injury which might explain his lack of minutes at Hibs7

Ollie Hobden has joined Toby Bower on loan at Farnborough for the season

Asiimwe, Mitchell, Taylor, Mbick, Kanu, Bower and Hobden all started. Z Mitchell not in the squad again but neither is Dixon.
No goals/assists yet but Mbick seems to be playing well5 -
            Another goal for Kanu9

It's been great seeing Mbick and Kanu scoring goals, but it's also really impressive to see Mbick's standing out with his all round game, even in games when he's not scoring.
Pacey attacking players often make an impact at a young age, but hold up strikers usually take a lot longer to develop. Really exciting considering he's only coming up to 19.

Looks like he's got the makings of everything NJ likes in his strikers. Hopefully we keep him there for the whole season too and let him develop.fenaddick said:

Got a very bright future if he is bullying defenders like that at 19!MarcusH26 said:2 -
Admittedly hadn’t seen much of Mbick before, however if he was training like that then you can see why Jones was chucking him into match day squads last season.Still looks raw (as you’d expect), but to be that dominant over League 2 players is really exciting.6
