The other half walks her dog in Sonning nr Reading as it has some lovely riverside walks and other dog users. She said to me once she sees this nice young man who looks a bit scruffy but they always spoke for ages.

Once unknowingly spoke to Peter Docherty in a pub in Marlborough. Again had no idea who he was until someone pointed it out.1 -
Literally bumped into Amanda Burton at M&S in Bexhill a little while ago. It’s a Mecca for stars there, also seen Tom Baker, the woman who played Cassandra in Only Fools, her husband actor Jesse Birdsall and Robert Bathurst.1

Once had Kylie Minogue sit on my knee when she made an impromptu visit to a ward on Great Ormond Street Hospital where my daughter was an inpatient. It was only for a three of us photo unfortunately. When I was a radiographer at University College London Hospital and was last person in the department and in the process of locking up when two plain clothed security policemen walked in and asked if it would be ok for Princess Diana to pop in. Of course I said yes but explained there was nobody there and she still came in for a chat for about ten minutes. She was charming.1

But when I was a fitter at Chatham dockyard and just out of my time, I stripped down and refitted the firing system on HMS Conqueror the sub that sank the Belgrano, when it was in for a 6 week docking and essential defect clearance. This involved stripping out the firing valves on each tube, replacing internal parts and replacing them and setting them to work. A few months later it did what it did.
