Changes: What’s happening?
We are implementing changes to our forum theme (the look and feel) that you will be sure to notice. These changes are necessary to keep things working with updates to our underlying forum software. In implementing these changes we have tried to keep to the spirit of our current site as much as possible so that there is as little annoyance and disorientation as possible. Nevertheless, there will be some changes that are necessary; some that make things clearly better and some that will likely be more debatable.
For mobile-heavy users, the changes will be more obvious. Currently, we’ve had a theme for large screens and a completely separate theme for mobile. The new theme is fully responsive, meaning that the theme responds to changes in screen sizes. One theme that adapts from mobile to desktop and everything in between. This is a positive step but, no doubt, there will be a period of adjustment.
Why?
Earlier in August we passed our 19th anniversary. We’re old and like Johnnie Jackson, our legs have gone. The current forum theme (look and feel) evolved from the very first iteration of the site in 2006. For the past ten or twelve years we haven’t changed much at all (for better or worse!). This provided stability but at the cost of any (and all!) innovation. But we can no longer simply evolve. Updates to our forum software now necessitate a change to the theming structure, which means changes to the look and feel of our site.
When?
These changes will be made late on Sunday. We expect to implement the new theme over night (GMT) to lessen impact on the site’s availability. There should be no downtime for most.
TLDR: The look and feel of Charlton Life will change next week. Some things will be in new places, some things will look a little different, but functionality is the same. The core of how the site works, how it looks, and how it feels, will remain more or less the same. Golfie will still say we need three new themes, Oggy will see the positives in the new themes, LetTheGoodTimesRoll will post something bizarre and Henry Irving will want the old theme for the museum.
These changes are absolutely necessary and, whilst they may bring some minor annoyances, we expect a better longterm experience. And we’ll tweak as we go. Hopefully, we will be in a better position to move the site forward without breaking things and will look to address issues and implement new features over time.

Also , is this change anything to do with the squashing of images we are experiencing
The death of the TeamTalk "Your Say" forum still haunts me to this day, however... 😳😀
Will Tingles be banned ?
You beat me to it, can this facility be reinstated please.
Will the new Charlton Life be a substitute or ........................... a game changer?
It's my pleasure, think nothing of it.
