Keeping up Appearances was one of the BBC shows we’d get on a Sunday omnibus here in our remote colony, alongside Desmond’s and a few others. Will always remember the show and Hyacinth fondly.

I remember seeing her in panto at the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury in 1964. She was Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk.2 -
