Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), Jordan Pickford (Everton), James Trafford (Manchester City)
Defenders: Dan Burn (Newcastle United), Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Reece James (Chelsea), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), Myles Lewis-Skelly (Arsenal), Jarell Quansah (Bayer Leverkusen), Djed Spence (Tottenham Hotspur), John Stones (Manchester City)
Midfielders: Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest), Jordan Henderson (Brentford), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (AC Milan), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa)
Forwards: Jarrod Bowen (West Ham United), Eberechi Eze (Arsenal), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle United), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Marcus Rashford (Barcelona, loan from Manchester United), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)
Trafford over Nick Pope?
Jordan Henderson still there, but no Adam Wharton.
Gibbs-White when he and Forest have been awful.
Rogers when he and Villa have been awful.
No Foden who has looked decent the last few games.
Loftus-Cheek in there when he has been benched for Milan's last 2 league games.
No Grealish who i think has the most assists in the PL this season.
Obviously we will beat Latvia but it's a strange squad.2 -
Genuinely do not understand why I am still having to see Henderson in the England set up5
-
I presume there's some notable injuries in midfield for us, as looking at it from a world class view, that's a weak midfield. Probably only have Rice down as world class quality.1
-
You would have to assume come the time of the World Cup squad, we'd have TAA, Bellingham, Palmer, Foden, Madueke, and maybe even Grealish all part of it or in real contention.
I don't want to be seeing players like Loftus-Cheek and Quansah etc in the squad.
Henderson I think will be included whether people like it or not.
Mainoo will need to move from United and play consistently well to put himself in the frame too.1 -
He's just said that this was down to the team spirit in the last get together "Are there players that deserve to be in the squad? Yes, for sure. The competition is on to make it into the squad and then in the team. For this camp we wanted to make it a straightforward decision."
I think he's firing a shot in the case of Bellingham and Foden and a message to others. It doesn't matter who you are and he will reward those that are available for England and won't put up with players who think they can drift in and out. Obviously one can argue that injury can play a massive part in that but we've seen over the years so many players who pull out of England squads only to be available straight after for their clubs. Equally, he is saying that you have to be playing for your club to get in the squad.

Of course the fact that Trafford won't be playing matches any time soon goes against that but then there aren't too many England qualified keepers currently playing in the fist team in the PL - just Pickford, Henderson, Johnstone and Pope.0

The bloke is a joke. Sack him now while there’s still time.0

Grealish and Foden should have been called up, but probably best they both continue to focus on club football for now.
Keep the form going0 -

Wharton is a strange ommission IMHO.2

Couldn't see any thread on last nights match (not surprised no one cares about a friendly), but i though we played really well, admittedly Wales were shocking though.
Seems the midfield spot alongside Rice is now Elliot Anderson's to lose. Been very impressed with him recently. I do think Wharton is a better player, but if he's not getting picked then he's not got much chance to claim a spot in the side.2 -
Yeah I'm surprised Wharton has been overlooked, even if Tuchel wants to pair Roce and Anderson (and fair enough, he's done well so far), Wharton seems the best backup to Anderson so worth having a look at.

Wharton shouldn’t just be in the squad, he should be starting. Incredible player.0

Righto.
Think Bellingham will likely win the place back, but good we're less reliant on him and are hopefully playing as a team.
