James Bree signs on loan until January 2026

Puts him at 10k a week can’t see it being that low for a player who’s signed for a premier league club. I’ve seen 18k a week being reported as well. You would hope the factors of regular football move back to London and a good ennvironmenr would be enough to get him to lower his wage demandsqueensland_addick said:
I read that he signed a 4 year deal worth over 2 million. So 500k plus per yearNabySarr said:
Don’t think transfer fee would be any issue, just the wages. He’ll be on a very good wage at Southampton so would likely have to take a pay cut wherever he goes nextHastingsRed said:
How much would he cost?PaddyP17 said:Two things I noticed about Bree, watching back the highlights today:
- After Carey scores, despite him screaming for the pass in an open position to carry on the attack, he goes mental celebrating and runs straight over to him, and is the first man there.
- After he scores the third, he doesn't do much by way of celebration, and goes STRAIGHT over to Greg Docherty to hug him for the assist.
That feels like exactly the sort of character you want at your club. I am not usually one to set my stall out this early on a loanee but we should sign him permanently at the earliest available opportunity.1 -

Substituted today to prevent the Apocalypse occurring. I think I'm right in saying that one more goal contribution would have opened at least one of the seals if not the seventh13

Gutted my next game down at The Valley is Southampton so I won't see the Wakefield Cafu in action9

Not sure about that, but one more goal contribution Bree would have been the best player on FM26.Leuth said:Substituted today to prevent the Apocalypse occurring. I think I'm right in saying that one more goal contribution would have opened at least one of the seals if not the seventh3 -

Going off Wikipedia, Bree’s scored 6 goals in his entire career and that was his 300th appearance - of course 2 of those were scored for us in the last 2 games.6
-
Don’t think I’m emotionally ready for when we don’t get him back in January9

So what your saying is if he started his career with us he'd be on 300 goals that's mental he's such a class player tbf.Scoham said:Going off Wikipedia, Bree’s scored 6 goals in his entire career and that was his 300th appearance - of course 2 of those were scored for us in the last 2 games.7 -

I can't remember the exact stat but Sky were saying something like 2 goals in the last 2 games and 2 goals in the last 200 games before that (might've been league games, possibly?).Scoham said:Going off Wikipedia, Bree’s scored 6 goals in his entire career and that was his 300th appearance - of course 2 of those were scored for us in the last 2 games.1 -

Is it too early for a James Bree statue yet?

Not sure that's going to be an important factor for a guy from Yorkshire who's never played for a London club.Crispywood said:

Regular football and working with Jones though should definitely be enough to sway him if the money is right.0 -

Goalscorer James Bree gives his thoughts following the 1-1 draw with Derby County at Pride Park Stadium.3 -
The things that we have in our favour is that he loves it here, has a history of playing under Jones and Southampton already have three options at right back - Mads Roerslev (bought from Brentford in August), Elias Jelert (on a season long loan from Galatasaray) and Ronnie Edwards.
Perhaps, though, the thing that gives me the biggest hope is this post on Southampton's forum just an hour ago:
"He's always had superb technique. Interesting that he's been playing in a more advanced role for Charlton in the past couple of weeks. I suspect they'll try and buy him permanently when his loan expires as we've just got too many options here already for him to force his way back in with us."
I would like to think that "all" we have to do is to get the contract side of things right.2 -
Surely Southampton are watching him and would be crazy not to call him back in Jan ?0

That’s what worries meValleysarr said:Surely Southampton are watching him and would be crazy not to call him back in Jan ?1 -
If the rumours are true and he signed a 4 year deal worth just over £2m, that would make his wages around 11k a week.
Not completely outrageous.4 -
Think you will find we decided to sign him till Jan because our target the Japanese right wing back is available in Jan … be interesting if we still go after him or sign Breestonemuse said:

His contract ends Jan2026 iirc, and so he will become a free agent, and i am sure, indeed I hope, that Nathan has already spoken to him about a contract, but we really do need to pull out all the stops on this one, he comes over in interviews that he loves it here.
This has to be a priority in my opinion, wages could be an issue of course...0 -

That is outrageous compared to what i'm earning, and I bet James Bree's planning advice is rubbishsam3110 said:If the rumours are true and he signed a 4 year deal worth just over £2m, that would make his wages around 11k a week.

Depends if it was that, or Southampton thinking if he does well for 5 months then we might be able to get a small fee for a guy who is surplus to requirements and whose contract ends next season anyway.RonnieMoore said:

Alternatively as he is out of contract in the summer, then if we offer a small fee they might decide to cash in, especially if Bree pushes for the move.Valleysarr said:Surely Southampton are watching him and would be crazy not to call him back in Jan ?
