Whitstable Town the lowest ranked side left (only tier 9 side) in the competition who have an away tie at Wealdstone.

Yeah a bad one, you'll probably get to choose between Palace v Wednesday and Millwall v Orient
  • Isthmian Premier League side Folkestone Invicta (with Joe Pigott) have already knocked out Horsham and Maidstone Utd from the National League South so may fancy their chances at National League Southend United

I'll often joke that "I'm now in the north" when I cross the Thames, but it seems I'm not wrong given that's where Aveley have been put

Tell them you want Charlton v a local park side so we get to the final.
  • I went to watch my Son in Law play for Runcorn Linnets v Ashton Unithed on Saturday in the 3rd Round. They drew 1-1 (he hit the bar in the second half), the replay is tomorrow night. Their previous round game in North Yorkshire was live on IPlayer.

It is nearly a month since they played an actual league game as the have being played FA and FA Trophy trophy matches / replays.

It is relentless, they are playing every Tuesday and Saturdays for the next month as well as the last couple of weeks in September (As well as having their full time jobs). I do love watching this level though.

    Bring on Buxton!.

In terms of Essex teams, Aveley is further south than Southend and especially Braintree, both in the south.

But baffling when Solihull are in the southern section

For anyone else who feels lost in the confusion and impending disappointment of the unknown, we come in at round 3 on 10th Jan for which the draw should be made after round 2, sometime around 6th December. The current holders are Crystal Palace.

    3rd Round Proper: January 10, 2026

This is the really fun one, when all the 44 clubs from the Premier League and Championship, the top two tiers, enter and often wind up facing some really small clubs. Sixty-four teams play 32 games.

Note that both the Championship and Premier League take this weekend off from league games.

We've had our share of really small clubs in recent years.

    Coalville
    Truro
    Havant and Waterlooville
    Cray Valley PM.

About time we got one of the so called big 6.

Without doing any research my guess is they've done it by levels.

So the North / South are left with the same amount of National League sides etc. and so avoiding one region having them all (for exaggerated example), same as you filter down the other tiers.

So the Northern half of the draw has

    12-teams from the National League
10-teams from the National League North / South
6-teams from Tier 7 that are guaranteed, and a max of three could join them
1-team from Tier 8 that is guaranteed, and a max of three join could them

The Southern half of the draw has

    12-teams from the National League
12-teams from the National League North / South (there could be one more)
6-teams from Tier 7 that are guaranteed, one more could join them
    1-team from Tier 9
