What will Football be like in 50 years?

Here's my PESTEL analysis of the factors that are likely to impact football's development and the most likely outcomes.
Political - The one thing we can say for certain is that in fifty years, politics still won't be discussed on Charlton Life. There's nothing to see here.
Economic - The trend to ever more concentrated control of the world economy will continue at pace. There'll be a widening gulf between a tiny number of 'haves' and the vast majority of 'have nots'. Today there are 3,208 billionaires who directly own 3% of the World's wealth. By 2075 there will be five trillionaires commanding control of 78% of the world's wealth. The rest of us will be paid a small social wage as envisaged by visionary thinker Roland Duchatelet. As a result there will be just five professional football clubs playing an endless round of international derbies. Most fans of the defunct Charlton Athletic will shift allegiance to Bezos United as that will give them a good deal on Amazon Prime.
Social - People will no longer socialise with each other preferring to spend their days in the company of online AI chatbots. Consequently they will not go to football in large numbers. Proxy holograms will travel the world following the big only five. In reality it will be a once in a lifetime experience, but everyone will cherish the half and half scarves their holograms bring back for them.
Technical - Technological improvements will mean that players aren't actually necessary. Everything will be virtual. EA Sports will necessarily change their strapline to "we are the game". Eventually human beings lose the need for any physicality they will morph into crab-like Dalek creatures.
Environmental - The only stuff that's not burnt will be under water. Grass won't exist, but new 6G electron-field pitches will take the game forward.
Legal - The big only five will control absolutely everything and will frame the laws to suit themselves and no-one else. But wait, what's this? There's a letter from a certain Paul Elliott of Manchester stating that he owns the whole world and all the football clubs in it. Anyone who denies him what is rightfully his will face immediate legal sanctions.0 -
Heading the ball will have long become a thing of the past.
Palace will celebrate their 1,000 birthday.0 -
I actually don't think football will ever disappear and it won't be the boring predictable VAR AI futuristic car crash that we all seem to predict.
The only problem is, the sport has already peaked. We have already witnessed the very highest and very lowest in my opinion.
As long as people have legs and access to a football, then the game will never be lost.
It is a very straight forward sport and almost anyone can start playing it.
The typical formation in the 40s/50s was something like playing a 2-6-2.
Things just change.
I prefer the profilic goal scorer days and playing 2 upfront.0 -
To expand on my previous post.
I envisage "Smart" Tech Kit. Shirts able to measure Heart rate, BP, Blood Sugar. (Sport Dr able to detect abnormal heart rate etc, able to recommend Isotonic drinks etc)
Boots with GPS with mm resolution./Force meters to measure strike power
Ball with Accelerometer and GPS to mm resolution
Goal Posts to detect goal/no goal.
Ball in/out of play and last touch LIDAR.
Quite a long way from jumpers for goal post0 -
It will be played by AI.0

65 Years after its launch, the Nicky Bailey penalty continues to circle the earth. Now, forming part of a “can you see questionnaire “ that space tourists can play on the way to Disney Land Mars.4

The ease with which everybody can get a dodgy stick will eventually hit the sports broadcasters and technology will be used to stop this happening. There will be a breakaway 'world league' with the likes of Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool etc joining the other top European, African and American sides. These matches will be watched by a worldwide fanbase of armchair supporters. Fans that attend the matches of these teams will get bored to death with games being played with no or very few away fans, against sides on the other side of the world and with football over coached and even more formatted than it currently is. The armchair fans will love it though and they will be linked up to the players heart monitors, the manager, the bench etc etc and battle and bet with other fans from their armchair with tactical switches voted for by armchair fans every 15 minutes and implimented by the coaches during drinks breaks. Normal match going fans will wish their clubs hadn't joined this technical but passionless nonsense and look on as their clubs are replaced by a new English league order, with teams who kick off at 3pm on Saturdays or 7.45 on Tuesdays / Wednesdays and are filled with players from England, bar a maximum of 3 from abroad. Fans own 51% of all these clubs and anything that doesn't suit the match attending fan can be voted on and stopped.0

1) England would have won a World cup or euros by 2075
Euros yes World Cup no
2) There will no longer be an on field ref on the pitch.
No but technology will take over and maybe two refs, one in each half. VAR will be run by AI.
3) The USA and or Saudis will probably have further increased involvement.
Champions League will include Saudi with the final repeatedly played in Saudi
4) football will still be a moderately popular sport but if compared to the 90s/early 00s, it would have taken a significant step back.
In some countries to enable TV to show enthusiastic crowds, fans are payed to attend.
5) The record of the £1billion pound signing would have been broken in the year 2040 roughly speaking.
Along with the first £500,000,000 womens player.
Trans Leagues are beginning to take off.
6) An input of Incredible advanced technology
7) Palace will suffer after going into administration. They will beg to groundshare at the Valley. We casually decline.
Fat chance
8) Fans can no longer afford tickets in the English Leagues, which establishes the womens game and it can financially manage on its own.
9) Each game now lasts a scheduled 60 minutes but stoppage time managed by AI. Each quarter lasts 15 minutes to allow advertising.0 -
Baller League will have completely taken over.0
