5 different types of steward jackets. Impressive.

But why are they all on the Charlton side of the fence?
Because the gate opens outwards, so it's easier to hold it closed from this side?
But nobody to stop away fans pushing at it.

Two Stewards standing to attention before KO yesterday, where are the Stewards on the otherside of Gate 21 & who is keeping an eye on this section of the Away End & unlocked Gate?

Surely the Millwall game would have been discussed during any Safety Advisory Group meeting, if there was one that is.

There 100% should have been a meeting and as such 100% would have been discussed.
The Trust should definitely find out who from Greenwich council was there and write to them about the concerns.
As others have rightly said, the safety certificate can be withheld if the council aren’t happy.
Did anyone have any joy getting in touch with the local MP?
Lead to believe that CAST do have a rep that sits on the Safety Advisory Group, so did one actually take place prior to the Millwall game?

Maybe CAST could shed some light?

The big geezer 2nd from the right in the red vest has defo got an earpiece in. So he’ll be in contact with the control room.

So is CAST on that list or not? I would assume yes.

The pressing issue would be - was there a meeting prior to the game or not?

Hopefully CAST can shed some light
A CAST board member attends and inputs to the Safety Advisory Group. This is not a club committee.
Ok there we have it @cafc999

So was there a Safety advisory group meeting before the Millwall game and did a Supporters Trust board member attend?

I guess that’s what you are asking? Thanks

Was there a SAG prior to the MIllwall game?

This thread has plenty of people who have commented in a negative way on this fixture - Cannot think why? So I would have assumed the club would have held a meeting prior to this. Maybe they did but nobody can give a clear answer.

Saw this in our local paper....Hastings takes on the Far Right – Hastings Independent Press   4th paragraph.
  • The lack of police within home areas during the game was wrong, and I don't even think they needed more police, just better distribution of the resources provided.

Vast numbers of police just standing outside the control box doing nothing, when a small number should have been elsewhere in the stadium to deal with any issues caused by Millwall fans in home areas. There were Millwall fans in the Curbs stand, and a box full of them, but NO police anywhere near if things had kicked off. One policeman in the stand would have made a big difference.

The SAG wouldn’t necessarily meet before each match. There is a meeting between the club and the police before each game and there should be a meeting of senior staff, or was in the past.

Interesting 4th paragraph, how on earth did some bright journalist dream up that Millwall and Charlton firms joined forces to attack people at the Tommy Robinson march. Its not a world i'm part of but this seems fantasical.......
Having seen Millwall "fans" push through Gate 21 & attack Charlton fans, I couldn't believe some of them were 40-60's old.....Really, bit sad?

Or maybe he's just listening to some tunes?

  • If the police can’t handle 3000 Millwall fans, we should reduce ticket sales to how many they can.
Sales should also be restricted to their Club members.

That’s what they’ll do for us . I can’t imagine we’ll get the bottom tier at The Den .

They don't do two tier policing by all accounts so I expect you're right.

Seeing as it normally takes about 8 police to arrest a pensioner for saying hurty words, that means 24,000 OB to handle the scum next season.

IMHO……I still think the gate should be more substantial, an example are the compound gates behind the away end at The Tool Box……strangely enough.
It would appear that the weakest point in the gate is the center bolt which projects downward into the ground, a concerted effort by a determined group could quite easily bend that out of shape.
The whole thing needs replacing with something significantly more substantial…..end of.👊

Is the SAG a Council- run group? Because if so it is subject to FOI law, and I will be more than happy to request the minutes of any meeting that covered this game and any subsequent correspondence between public bodies involved. And on WhatDoTheyKnow.com so that everyone can see what the reply is. Of course any Met meeting  with the club is subject to FOI law too, but based on previous experience the Met will take the piss with that.
  • If memory serves the SAG happens pre season and one of its purpose is to agree the safety certificate needed to play your seasons games. So the council should have the minutes too. Ours was always held at The Den and I took the minutes and decided the itinerary.
But things may have changed since my day.
