Raducanu has played really well in what has been a seriously good match but has allowed Pegula to get back into this. She was 5-2 up in the tie break but Pegula found some outrageous winners at vital times to win 11-9. All on the final set.

She's certainly knocking on the door of the top players. BUT she needs to start converting the match points, as the same happened in her previous loss.
However, I think the more opportunities she gets against the top players, the more she will get used to the situation and start converting the opportunities she has created.
Not going great in this set so far, as happened before when she failed to convert several match points. Maybe needs to be a better in tie breaks?
Raducanu collapsed in the final set to lose 6-0. This is the ninth consecutive time that she has lost to a top 10 player but she has had her chances to put the match to bed several times including today. It is those points at key times that define the best players and at the moment she isn't taking those opportunities.

She has won 3 setters - didn't she come back from match set against her when she beat Pegula on grass?
Whilst getting to match points against the top players is great, this capitulation after not converting match points is very poor. Whilst she might adjust to the tension of playing the match points, the cumulative affect of missing them may also take a toll mentally. Also opponents will be fully aware of her capitulating in the 3rd, if they can get through the tie break

That was in June 2024 at Eastbourne. Since then her record in 3 set matches (ranking)
Won 10 35 43 50 64 78
Lost 1 4 7 36 39 46 51 54 62 101 123
Those results suggest that it might be both a physical as well as mental thing because, at times such as today, she is playing some of the best tennis of her career but she's not been seeing long matches out.

I think the complete capitulation isn't really physical, as you don't go from having match points to not being able to win a game in a set

As I say, it's a combination of the two. Probably mostly mental but she's probably given so much physically, chasing each and every lost cause that it does, eventually catch up. Why else would she lose to 10/14 players outside the top 35 because she certainly has the shots and the game craft to win all of those.

at the moment she can't compete with the big hitters - no doubt something they are working on
The massive capitulations have come after not converting match points. But she didn't capitulate in the 3rd against Sabalekna.
It is partly because she is low top 20 quality not top 10. At least she has gone up to 30 now and got no points to defend for the rest of the year

Great (the match points), not so good (not converting) and poor & concerning (capitulating)
