Same, been fantastic so far.WillmoreTheRed said:Think he’s been our best signing so far. Scores goals and puts himself about.0 -
My other regular postie knows I'm Charlton as he delivered my trust-sent Bobby Moore Suite tickets for Wembley in 2018 when it was touch and go that they would arrive so I....err.... celebrated the delivery of the mail with much enthusiasm that day...Elthamaddick said:
is your postie ginger and in his early 50's and you just thought you'd ask on the off chance?Siv_in_Norfolk said:Just met his dad, who is a postie in Norwich and was dropping off a package at my place. I fed back that consensus was that he and Apter had made good starts. Afterwards, I wished I'd asked if the transfer was happening regardless of promotion.
He'll be at the Boxing Day game up here.
Wonder if Nathan will let him have Xmas in Norfolk and join the boys on match day morning, or is it bad form if the team don't travel together on the morning of a match.
Since then, we generally briefly chat football when I see him and so he introduced the fact that Sonny's dad was driving the van....

Whst a signing. Fabulous player1

The value of competition for places. Carey got the first chance due to having a proper pre season and has played like a man who knows he has to perform to keep his place. Mental that Blackpool fans didn’t seem too bothered to he losing him as he’s been excellent. I agree he’s been the pick of the new boys so far, and that’s not because any of them have been especially poor either.thenewbie said:It says something that we pursued Knibbs pretty heavily and apparently for quite some time... and now he can't even get into the 1st 11.
Quite apart from his ability, his attitude and energy are absolutely astounding.4 -
Carey and Jones my 2 favourite players, but really the whole team is full of energy, quality, physicality, character and likeable players.2
-
Testament to how well he's playing in keeping big money signing Knibbs out the team. He has everything a Nathan Jones player has to have.1

The lounge, where I believe the match sponsors choose MOTM , chose Tanto instead of Sonny as motm yesterday what a joke , yes Tanto done well but Sonny was unreal yesterday and what a ping for the goal4
-
What a pleasant surprise and under the radar style signing.
It seems we have very much acquired the in form Carey who was instrumental in Blackpools late season surge, look where they are now without him and Apter. A true cherry picking job there.
The least exciting sounding transfer is starting to look undroppable.7 -
I don’t know if the comparison has been made before, but he really reminds me of Ross Barkley (in his Everton days) in the way he plays. So strong on the ball, forward thinking And hard working. What a summer of recruitment we’ve had.

Described as “one of the standout midfielders in the Championship so far this season” on the Second Tier podcast this week.4

Whats very promising is he played that well without Apter on the pitch. So much of his best play in the first 5 games was linking up with Apter and then if he got taken off Sonny looked a little quieter. Now he’s busy all the time and producing moments of quality.
I still can’t get over that lung busting run and challenge to break up the Blackburn counter, it was class4 -
When he got the ball I was thinking don't shoot from there, but what do I know.
Only other instance was when Johnny Robinson spanked one in from about 40 yards against Huddersfield.0 -
Tbf I would’ve voted Gillespie. But shows what a good all round performance it was from everyone that players in defence, midfield and attack could stake a claim at being MoMoohaahmortimer said:The lounge, where I believe the match sponsors choose MOTM , chose Tanto instead of Sonny as motm yesterday what a joke , yes Tanto done well but Sonny was unreal yesterday and what a ping for the goal0 -

Got his own song too now, inherited from another goal scoring midfielder.0
-
It's such a good strike, as others said, a proper ping0
-
Almost as good as the last midfield ginge we had - At least Carey isn't constantly on the floor having a whinge.0

Both players of the month have been the ex Blackpool lads, which isn't something I would have predicted.2
-
Because it was more likely to be two ex Luton lads?killerandflash said:Both players of the month have been the ex Blackpool lads, which isn't something I would have predicted.1 -

Probably my choice for POTY at this early stage of the season
Jones and Bell have been outstanding as well, but Carey (like Bell) came in with such little fanfare... I cant think any Charlton fan expected this sort of start from him, he didn't really stand out in Pre-Season either, as he's not overly flashy.10 -
Has to be up there as one of the signings of the season so far in the Championship. Although McBurnie with 6 goals and 3 assists, who was also a free transfer is probably leading the way.
When we signed Knibbs i felt it would be him starting and Carey on the bench, but right now Carey has to be one of the first names on the team sheet.4 -
I guess Cov and Doc running themselves into the ground gives Sonny the freedom to attack at will, even though his all round game sees him defend well too.5
-
He’s a proper Nathan Jones number 10 - much more of a goalscoring box to box midfielder, than the traditional creative flair player who can’t or won’t defend.CaptainRobbo said:I guess Cov and Doc running themselves into the ground gives Sonny the freedom to attack at will, even though his all round game sees him defend well too.
It can only help that he has Knibbs, Berry and Fullah as competiton.
Same with JRC and Anderson for Doc and Cov.6 -
Interesting new thread on him on the Blackpool forum here

The Ginger Gerrard had a slowish start, fading in a number of games
Maybe his fitness has peaked
Maybe he's a Canary at heart and loves to play and beat the tractor botherers
Looking like a terrific bit of recruitment - an exceptional free transfer.
I know they're all media trained to trot out precisely what (they think) we want to hear but he seems to be thoroughly enjoying his time at Charlton - compared to Kings Lynn and Blackpool why wouldn't he?
Hull next...0 -
Our one man fan club pops up too, I was really missing our regular "scum" nicknamefenaddick said:
