I think this was the right time to play Sheff U, I reckon if we finish above them we would be high in the league
At this rate everyone will finish above them!
Sheff U will finish in top 6

At the moment Sheff Utd are barely top six in Sheffield!
    Patience 😃
    Thanks Russell 😉

Feels like a very timely win. We’ve been solid to start the season but lacking fluency in attack, as has been well discussed. Results have not necessarily matched performances.

The goals haven’t started flowing yet but, I believe, if you’ve been paying attention, the signs have been there each week that we are gelling little by little. I think this win will be a huge confidence booster the perfect motivation to keep going and working on what we’ve been trying to do. It may well prompt a step change in understanding between the players.

Obviously, no easy games in this division, but our next four matches represents a big opportunity to get some significant points on the board. 7 points would be a strong return but I hope we are targeting 10.
  • And another ref screw up. Jones involved in a clash of heads on the half way line. No physio on the pitch. Their player first up followed by Jones a few secs later. Jones made to go off the pitch for a mandatory 30 secs.
Head injury - no need to leave the pitch.
No trainer - no need to leave the pitch.
    Wtf?
that was weird, the ref was clueless
  • Feels crazy to be thinking this, but does Kayne Ramsay get back in the team next week?

I love this title of 'Game changer' so often referred to by Nathan.

Tanto spoke about it in his interview, 'the game changers to come on after 60 minutes'.  I can just imagine players demanding to know why they're not starting, only to be told, 'Because you're the game changer'!  What kudos that title holds ... especially when you go out and actually do it!
We used to have one game changer.
Chuks bless him, would get eased out of his wheelchair on 60 minutes usually to see if he could help to salvage a point from a losing position.
We now appear to have a bench full of "game changers".
Hate the term "game changers". If they can "change" a game for you from the bench why aren't they playing from the start....then you could win the game comfortably.

Imagine Jimmy Greaves, Glen Hoddle, Gazza, Maradona being sat on the bench for 80 mins & only getting a 10 min cameo because they are so good they can affect the game in such a small amount of time.

Say it as it is. They are players you throw on when you need a point (or 3) and the other 11 players haven't managed to do it for you in the first 80 mins. Desperation stakes is what I call it.

(Its ok, I'll get back into my box now)
i often agree with some of your more controversial stuff golfie but i think by the time you'd finished writing this, you knew you were wrong - i think the game is so tactical these days, its like a game of chess for 75 minutes and then a match breaks out in the last 15+ where one side or other will try and win it - its one of my grumbles about modern football - teams used to go all out for 90 minutes.
Yeah, you probably said it better than I did.

Like you I'm starting to hanker after the old days. You know, jumpers for goalposts, rush goalie, next goal wins.....😃. Just wish they would start selling 2nd half season tickets. 1/3rd of the price & you only turn up after 60 mins when the real football.starts.

It was slightly tongue in cheek mate....but we will see, still feel we will finish above them...
Would be interested to know the data on teams who have started with 0/0/6 and their final finishing places
I read only 4 teams had lost their opening 6 games since the "Championship" came into being 20 years ago. No idea what happened to those teams but I expect they all got relegated.

  • I think Ramsey will come back in as they will want to manage Burke, but I expect Bree might start again.
  • I can see a "Countdown to P********" coming soon at this rate...🤐🙄
Everyone who wants a W*****y ticket will get one.

He got in the way of a good game of football for both sides. Got worse in the second half.

Be tough for either Bree or Burke to be dropped after Saturday, however, maybe it might be a case for Ramsey and Apter at home for Saturday and then Bree and Burke for the Tuesday - after all they didnt do bad v Sheff U, did they ?
Its a nice problem for NJ to have though.
  • I’ve nearly posted a few times since yestrday and every time I start, I ended up thinking…it doesn’t matter!

Last min limbs, 3 points, top half of the table. That’s all that matters.
  • Ramsay walks back into the team. Simple as.

I don't feel it'll be as simple as you think, and could see Nathan having a good hard think about it too...🤔

I should have said, if I was the manager 😁

    Great question - maybe not!
  • Good view of the goal celebration with spare game changers rushing in and advertising board collapsing

Not forgetting we have a game in midweek after the Blackburn game, would or could Burke start in both games ? It's an easier decision when you have the level of quality provided by both players.

Think he will but partly down to Brees fitness.

Nothing wrong with the bloke but this might add another dimension to his game knowing there is solid competition now and he could lose his place of not 100% at it.

It's clear to me and a few other lifers that Kelman has the ability but the service to him is absolutely dire.

Just running at teams with TC feeding off scraps must be soul destroying for the lad. In six league games his average playing time is only an hour!

I really hope that Charlie gets some support perhaps from Knibbs if Carey gets pulled otherwise I'm dumbstruck as to why Nathan ever bought him.

Perhaps Kelman wasn't especially bought for right now - more for a future time, as tactics and style evolves?

No way would our most expensive signing of the summer be someone not expected to make an impact more or less straight away. We don't have the money to spend £3m on long term punts.
£3m for a striker in this league is peanuts. If you want an average striker who makes an impact straight away you’re looking at £7m plus. Not only can we not afford that, those kind of players won’t come here and risk it on a newly promoted side.
£3M isn't peanuts for us though. Not compared with the cost of the rest of our squad.

Not really a mention of it, I presume because we won anyway, but I thought we should have had a pen as their defender was leaning towards the ball.

Ref booked Tanto for that. Moron.

    Or learns from his mistake.
If you lose your place and your replacement plays well, you have lost your place and have to win it back.
But obviously that depends on fitness.
Given the commitment displayed Saturday he will probably play Tuesday to freshen up the team.
