  • First game of season for me (glory boy) and it was a game where neither keeper had fuck all to do .
The scum were there to be beaten , ravaged by injuries ,apparently,  so I wouldn’t hold that dog shit performance by them as a sign of what they’ll be like all season .
A theme of this season is we’re doing well but not getting results , that can wash for a bit but the only thing that matters is results and who can score more in the game and 3 in 5 shows we don’t have enough guile in the final third so far .
Ive always said Berry was too clever for most of our players last year hopefully with the improved ‘quality’,we have that may change and Godden again is badly missed .
Bell won the motm in the lounge and when I said I think we’ll stay up he said “100% we will stay up” and seemed a nice cool fella.
When Ramsay got booked I said to my sons (obviously I’m always leaning negative) “that will cost us the game he’s not been that sharp today” then as time got late I said “we’re now entering Millwall time “ (spawny late goal cnuts) and 15 seconds later they scored .
I reckon I body pop for the whole game against them , I can’t sit still , fucking hate them with a passion even though I have best mates in the Jimmy Seed cheering that filth on.
i thought atmosphere wasn’t great from either set of fans with the early kick off and general chuffness of the game adding to that.
Boffin had no interest in going to the game preferring it to slum in Brum before returning Sunday for cricket .
The rest of em now know why the scum are named that .
Gonna be a graft of a season and 21st will be a result for this so far impotent team but as last season shows it can change but previous performances are no guarantee of future ones .

    0%     Top 2
    0%      Play offs
    12%      7th-12th
    63%      13th-21st
    25%       Relegation
Glad it wasn't just me that thought Ramsey had an off day (by his high standards) throughout. I'm sure he's going to be a great player, maybe getting to FAPL, and I think he learns quickly, given where he has come from. So maybe long term this will prove to be the kick up the arse he needed.

I thought the atmo was good though, better than I expected given the dogshit KO time. I didn't make either playoff semis at the Valley (last season or 2019) so that was easily the best I've experienced from the get-go for a quite a long time. You sit in the West...🤣
  • It actually only became a handball when he scored.
  • It actually only became a handball when he scored.
    ???
Handball is handball nothing to do with when he scored, so by your thinking, if he had shot over no foul (hand ball) was committed...

Some stupid new rule/law that a goal can not be awarded if the ball had struck an arm/hand during build up to the goal, even if accidental or whatnot.

They mentioned it on Sky at the time & iirc it was a thing last season with VAR.
  • Every time the ball hits a hand is not handball. He is however not allowed to take advantage of the ball hitting his arm and then scoring a goal. It only applies to the goal scorer so if it had broken to a team mate a goal could have been allowed.

It's a brilliant new law if it means chalking off Millwall "goals".

When it's in close proximity like that, they take the next phase of play into account. The fact they scored and gained a lasting advantage from it made it handball. If it struck his hand and he ballooned it over or we cleared easily, the ref would have probably played on.
Fair enough, but how long after the offence does the ref let play continue, if it pings around in the box for a while, then someone scores, the handball just gets forgotten about...
  • Has anyone got the footage of Ramsay's first yellow offence?
    I'm convinced it wasn't a yellow.
I thought that, 2 CAFC players collide with opposition. Maybe Ramsay was first but abit marginal to me who gets the card as 2nd CAFC player does more of a clatter.

I don't think this is true, any handball in the build-up would see the goal disallowed.

BeerandFootball is absolutely correct in his interpretation.

Of course it would be disallowed, I mean what next, you can assist a goalscorer with your hand and it's allowed...🤷‍♂️

It’s not a bad shout to give Berry a chance at least but can’t see it coming. Not sure if I’ve missed that he’s picked up a knock but Anderson wasn’t even on the bench. Could have done with his energy in midfield with ten men.
Berry's coming back from injury.  Anderson serving a ban for a red card.
Wasn't Anderson's ban at QPR?  Agree we could have done with him when down to 10.

Ramsay, Nathan Jones and Leaburn threw that away for us.

Easily the best Charlton performance against Millwall in a very, very long time. Well on top for most of the game, especially the first half, should have made it count more at 1-0 up.

Cannot argue either of Ramsay’s yellows, especially the second, no idea what he was thinking. Just let the play go.

Nathan Jones panicked. Should have left Campbell or Apter on, absolutely no outlet, it was inevitable they’d score at that point. They couldn’t handle Campbell at all, he was brilliant, suicidal to substitute him.

Leaburn either isn’t interested, is lazy, or injured. Absolutely zero effort to close the initial attack down which led to their goal. I would be he’s off in January and that a deal is already done.
    This.

I said earlier that the subs were all wrong. No pace left on the pitch & Leaburn still looks like his father, but without the heading ability.
Absolute rubbish talked about Leaburn.  Far more talented than his Dad, except in the heading department.
Leaburn did some good things when he came on. But once we were down to 10 we could have down with a presser/chaser up front, like Olaofe. Miles is not that type of player.
But had we been done by a set piece a lot of us would be saying he should have stayed on.

Ah balls, of course he is.

Wilder expected to be announced new manager for Sheff U before Saturday
  • I've calmed down now after what should have been one of the highlights of the season spoiled by the ineptitude of all decision makers in dealing with the scum that is Millwall.

On balance probably a fair result but that doesn't lesson the disappointment of conceding a late goal. TC, Jones and Carey stood out for us and the performance, although less that perfect, gives me confidence that we will stay up this season. With 11 men I think we would have seen it out - Ramsay has that in him and I'm not sure why Jones didn't sub him after the yellow. Utter madness from Ramsay.

  • Driving to work this morning listening to a bit of Amy Winehouse when one of her classics came on and got me singing along.

    Our day will come
and we will beat the scum.
    We`ll share the joy
That only the valley can bring
    No-one can tell us
Were not No 1 in South London
    Our day will come ,

Said to my mate at 1/2 time , kind of glad Ramsey is having a bit of an off day , at
least should put off any sniffing prem clubs. Care full what you wish for  .
Gutted but on reflection enjoyed every 88 minutes of it .We`ve come a long way since Crawley at home defeat in a very short time. Keep the faith.

  • Seeks that Ramsey was a bit carried away with the occasion .. strange as he usually seems to be able to retain his 'cool'
Decent performance by us except for the obvious inability to score, an issue which needs sorting a s a p

Playing Millwall is never one of the highlights of the season...
  • Would love to see us stop the aimless diags the appear to be coming back into our patterns of play. Kelman can run the channels really effectively so I don't know why we don't give him more of that to do

That’s how Thierry Henry plays .

It’s straight at him, he should be catching that, anything away from him and I’d say he should of parred it away.
