In terms of communication from the club, sitting in the Upper West at a match a few seasons ago an announcement was made with 5 minutes to go that the gate onto Valley Grove that comes out by the away fans was closed post-match.

They may not of known until the day before this time around about police arrangements but still absolutely no announcements.

Even a tannoy announcement would've mitigated some of these issues, regardless of whether they were right or wrong.

There was a tannoy announcement about it
At least one of the announcers is on this forum, perhaps he can confirm if & when there was an announcement or has he also taken the same vow of silence as the Communications team, Board of directors, Fans advocates &
    Advisory board.
There was 100% an announcement at full time I could hear it leaving the front of the Covered Upper, we left pretty much at the full time whistle with the announcement maybe 2-3 mins after the game finished.
The club sent countless posts on insta before this match hyping it as every notch went up from 20K to 23K, 10am Fan zone opening etc......Yet nothing on post match arrangements on website, insta, email etc as for an announcement where was it on the Big screen before, during, after the match....There was an PA announcement but i could hardly hear it in ES.....
Club have had nearly 48hrs to address what happened on Saturday.....if it were a new player, kit, corporate event we would all hear about it multiple times....
Posting the 'plan your trip' msg at 8am on Saturday morning was a piss take, that's literally the only non ticket buying communication that went out over the last week.

It'll be a load of old waffle when/if they do announce anything.

Fair enough, I left dead on FT seconds after final whistle so if there was one it was after that. I appreciate that was my choice and I knew the situation beforehand but still not what used to happen. Announcements were made before final whistle.

Either way, communication was lacking. We can agree that.

It probably took me 10 or 15 minutes to get out of the ground from the back of the CE upper and I heard nothing. I'm not saying that there wasn't an announcement, just that I didn't hear one. The PA system in the CE is shocking. With that in mind I think that announcements should have been made before, during and after the game to increase the chance of people actually hearing it.
How about putting up signs near the turnstiles or having people with loud-hailers outside the turnstiles getting the message across.
It was clear when I walked out into Harvey Gardens that so many people had no idea which way to go, as people were trying to go both ways and with the shear numbers that made the matter worse. Things only got even worse when I reached Charlton Lane and found cars being allowed to mingle with the thousands of pedestrians.
I was pleased to go across to Coxmount Road and not to continue with the masses travelling towards the level crossing.
It must have been horrendous with that many people turning left on the pavements towards the station.

I left right on the final whistle from the upper north, there was an announcement as I was heading onto the concourse. But to be honest, with all noise, it would’ve been easier to mishear what was said.
  • If so many people never heard the PA announcement, is this not an issue in itself? Especially if it forms part of the fire evacuation system (PA/VA).

punch landing on the fan reasoning with Millwall to not attack fans.......

What an absolute dick head and coward.

Enough evidence for the police to at least try and track him down.
I doff my cap to this Charlton fan.
Takes some bottle to stand there in order to at least try and protect those more vulnerable.
The Club should recognise his bravery with a spot of lunch on a match day.
He’d have to be braver than that to eat what they serve up at the Valley for lunch !!

  • There was defo an announcement but it was very short and quick. Think it was straight after the final whistle.

We appear to have a vow of silence on this matter from the club and the supporters representatives/groups as it stands and that includes the lengthy email that would have been all of their inboxes by late yesterday afternoon

I thought at least one of those three would have said something by now

    Sadly I’m not surprised.
  • For tomorrow:

Ahead of kick-off at Crystal Palace, millwallfc.co.uk releases the following information to ensure Lions supporters' visit goes as smoothly as possible...

Post-match, Millwall fans will exit the stadium and will be held temporarily outside the away turnstiles to allow home fans to disperse from the local area. Updates will be provided via a PA system on a regular basis to ensure regular communication is provided.
  • There was defo an announcement but it was very short and quick. Think it was straight after the final whistle.
I heard an announcement in the AC stand along the lines, 'Just a reminder to Charlton fans that Floyd Road is closed'.  I thought it was short and sweet and not exactly a reminder to those hearing it for the first time.
