This is horrible. I hope the fan who got a punch there makes a complaint to the club. Shocking policing.

Bloke who is clearly not about all that in glasses holding his hands up to show he's not interested gets a clump.  If that's what their lot are about these days deary me.  Breaking into a stand housed by mainly scarfer types and clearly significantly outnumbering those who are up for it.

Puts to bed all that bollocks about bullshit romanticised honour and code and nonsense that gets rolled out in the hoolie wanksfest films.  Get up to the woods with like minded people, pay a subsidy to the NHS to sort you out afterwards or go to a boxing club and leave the rest of us to get on with the game ffs.

    Tragic, inadequate people.  Bullies
@oohaahmortimer has plonked a YouTube clip on the other thread that changes things a tad.
It's on this thread as well. Doesn't really change anything to what Rodney has posted.
A couple of Charlton idiots who either ran or the Millwall lot didn't get to them doesn't mean it's alright to start on whoever next is available
My point is that if there was nobody the other side of the gate this would not have happened.

There's always gonna be people there it's e to the stairs for the the fucking exit.  Absolutely no need for their fans to be there as their exit is the other end....other than looking to have a row.
They did not need to go down the stairs, the exits are upstairs.
Are you on a wind up? You have to go to the bottom of the area to go up the stairs.

Put your phone away and go and have a beer and samba on the beach or something
Well in that case I am wrong.  I thought you walked along the concourse and turned left.

    No need for the sarcasm.
    Mate you are a mug
    Really.

    Yep

West Ham are not happy they attacked a family stand.
Fuck me. Is that real? 🤣🤣🤣

add this to the list of complaints the half and half scarves!
Had a word when he was packing up. Said he sold 44 of the half and half scarves. Banning order for those 44 people please.

Probably the trust buying them now I think of it….
  • I think most know that the east stand doesn’t house any sort of lads as such the north upper a very different story.
Wrong mate.  North lower. Let me tell you.
North upper and lower would house more types that would probably have a crack back.

  • That Millwall fan who ran from ES into JS & Millwall fought stewards off & he got into the AWAY end....
If Police can be bothered its all online so they can find these idiots.....
Got a feeling there'll be a few getting an early morning knock on the door in the next couple of months, after all the images that were shared online today.
  • What a massive cock up to not man that gate with more than 2 stewards.

  • punch landing on the fan reasoning with Millwall to not attack fans.......

  • Stewarding and a removable barriers in away end would have prevented the Millwall fans
even being able to get to the gates?

  • I am baffled how this gate was able to be opened. Surely it is normally locked.
Emergency escape route. Doubt you are allowed to lock it.
Excellent, so they'll all just exit that way next time.
You couldn't make this nonsense up (not you Airman).

Took this pic a good 10 mins plus after the final whistle.

The whole of the West Sand was trying to squeeze out of one gate. Which wouldn't have been as bad if everyone was then turning right along the "appointed" route, but it was carnage with people not knowing which way they could or should go. So the stairs were backed up all the way to the top and people weren't moving.

Surely that's a safety concern? And it definitely blew a whole in the myth some on here were going along with that the diversion would only add 10-15 mins to the walk to the station.

Just as well we're not Liverpool fans or there could have been fatalities.
  • Most importantly though, did anyone see Scooby

  • punch landing on the fan reasoning with Millwall to not attack fans.......

on instagram the video shows how Millwall thought it was a Charlton fan trying to get in??? so they start punching him and then he runs up the steps and trys to get in and the Millwall "fans" punch him again till he must have shouted loud enough & they then start punching the stewards and dragged him into the AWAY end .........
Its all online YT & insta under Charlton v Millwall there are a host of videos...like three Tottenham fans in ES goading Millwall not sure if they were involved in the Gate incident?
  • The ridiculous thing about all of this is that it's not even a bunch of day trippers looking for aggro like you'd get at Wembley or what you'd expect at a home game where there's 16k of them. To get a ticket for Charlton away you've got to be (i assume) a regular away traveller with a high points total.

One thing is certain though, whatever plan the police concoct for next season it has to be different to the shambles from Saturday.

I doubt the Plod will follow up with any of the shenanigans. To them the day was a success.

  • Scum just accidentally going out the wrong exit .
I had always thought it was not possible to get out that way, for home or away supporters.  Strange.

They were rocking the gates, lock must have broken

Yep, it was like a tough Krypton Factor conundrum for Neanderthal man , took a while

As far as I am aware there is no reason why that gate could not have been locked PROVIDED the key is held by a responsible person in the vicinity or is stored in the immediate vicinity and is readily available at all times.

Think about it. All venues have emergency exits but these are generally not kept open because you would get people from outside using them to gain unauthorised entry.

I’d imagine they are never locked during a game. Just manned in case of emergency.

The cock up seems to be no police at this gate.

    But im
not sure we regularly see police here with other away followings - maybe we do?

It’s clearly a mistake on this occasion but I’m wondering maybe the norm even when other less desirable away followings have been at the ground.

They may not generally be kept open but can usually be opened without a key. None of the exit gates at The Valley are padlocked during matches. I’m sure you are right but the sheer number of gates at The Valley and the likelihood of things going wrong with any one of them in an emergency situation makes that a risky approach. The safety certificate may also dictate.

Apart from anything else, staff use these gates to move in and out, and around, the stadium. It would be impractical to lock and unlock them with a padlock every time they are opened.

Emergency exits cannot be locked shut whilst stand / venue is occupied, however they can be fitted with panic bolts / push bars which allow immediate exit and prevent ingress. Fire doors must be able to fully open from the inside with no obstructions.

I know one spanner who lives up north who was at the game, a member only, he managed to get a ticket in JS.
