Was that gate meant to be used by anyone (home / or away fans) for today's game?
No it doesn't get used but now I know it's always open I might make use of it if I'm at that end of the east stand and fancy an easy exit.

Don't know if this has been mentioned elsewhere but I was out quickly at the end through the gate by the Media Centre, amazed to see two mounted police by Ransom Walk, with WPC on one horse charging at the leaving crowd and shouting 'Get back'. Was able to exit along Harvey Gardens towards the 'appointed route' but dozens behind the Covered End walking towards Floyd Rd, presumably oblivious of 'publicised' exit route.

The term WPC was dropped years ago

The blokes giving it the big un behind closed gates should have accepted what they generated. Not the poor fucker who didn’t want to know.
That little group who encouraged it should have remained and dealt with what they sparked, not run and left an innocent bloke to come second.
No rights or wrongs, but the small Charlton group enticed that.
    Oh do fuck off mate.

How the hell do you know who started it?

Tell you what, what's more likely? The Charlton fans walking that way because that's the exit from that stand, or the Millwall fans who have walked in completely the opposite direction from their own exit? What reason do you think they might've done that for?

I'll leave you to have a little think about that.
That gate isn’t used by home fans, according to a previous poster, mate. I think it’s left unlocked in case of an emergency, and it’s down to the two stewards who drew the short straws to stop it being breached. As mentioned above, a couple of coppers being present might have prevented what happened...

This is horrible. I hope the fan who got a punch there makes a complaint to the club. Shocking policing.

Bloke who is clearly not about all that in glasses holding his hands up to show he's not interested gets a clump.  If that's what their lot are about these days deary me.  Breaking into a stand housed by mainly scarfer types and clearly significantly outnumbering those who are up for it.

Puts to bed all that bollocks about bullshit romanticised honour and code and nonsense that gets rolled out in the hoolie wanksfest films.  Get up to the woods with like minded people, pay a subsidy to the NHS to sort you out afterwards or go to a boxing club and leave the rest of us to get on with the game ffs.

    Tragic, inadequate people.  Bullies
@oohaahmortimer has plonked a YouTube clip on the other thread that changes things a tad.
It's on this thread as well. Doesn't really change anything to what Rodney has posted.
A couple of Charlton idiots who either ran or the Millwall lot didn't get to them doesn't mean it's alright to start on whoever next is available
My point is that if there was nobody the other side of the gate this would not have happened.

There's always gonna be people there it's e to the stairs for the the fucking exit.  Absolutely no need for their fans to be there as their exit is the other end....other than looking to have a row.
They did not need to go down the stairs, the exits are upstairs.
Are you on a wind up? You have to go to the bottom of the area to go up the stairs.

Put your phone away and go and have a beer and samba on the beach or something
Well in that case I am wrong.  I thought you walked along the concourse and turned left.

    No need for the sarcasm.
    Mate you are a mug
    Really.

No the gate isn't used but it is right by the stairs that are used so Charlton fans would be walking by it. Millwall fans had no reason to walk that close towards it.

A significant proportion of their fans are complete c***s. Watched on CAFCTV and headed out straight afterwards.

Completely forgot about the Unite the Kingdom protest and got stuck in it on the Strand. Gave up and headed home from CX in the end.

20 or so 40/50 something Millwall were on the train playing up. They picked out a lone Arsenal fan sitting reading his programme and started throwing punches at him. Funnily enough when 5 or 6 blokes jumped in to defend him they all melted.

Pricks will on be on CCTV and nicked I hope. Police got on at Lewisham and were clearly looking for ‘someone’ strangely the aggro brigade were nowhere to be seen.

Oh dear, no need for the personals really is there.  I take it you do not know me.

Same as the above, almost felt like the police fancied a bit of agro themselves today. Trying to drive 7 vans through the place you’ve lined the Charlton fans up was moronic.

Has to be a better solution next year.

@charltonnick I take back my earlier post to you, after this shambles the only solution is to make it home fans only.
The club cannot come out of this unscathed and they must accept the blame for a lack of organisation to a great degree.
Imagine what would have happened if they had lost!
The league wont allow that.  You can reduce the number of tickets you give them
Exactly. EFL rules state that clubs are only required to give 2,000 tickets to away fans, or 10% if the capacity if smaller than 20,000.

We obviously give them 3,100 because it's the full end, but next season just give them 2k. There will still be a lot of bellends there, but 35% less bellends is an improvement.
That 35% will find its way into the home ends no doubt as they do every time they visit.

But the club will see the extra 1000plus young say £35? That’s £35.000

    .
  • I would like to add that Millwall fans were walking around outside the ground about 2 hours after the end of the game.
  • What a shit stain of a club Millwall

Yeah, I saw that as well. Don't know what prompted it, but it looked dangerous. Then they just rode off like nothing had happened.

The vast majority of people were heading in the direction of Floyd Road and Ransom Walk, clearly with no idea about the restrictions. No stewards or police telling people to go the other way. It was a mess.

Yes it was, but a police officer charging a horse at a Charlton fan in a very crowded area right in front of an exit that people were pouring out of is surely a bigger issue here than some outdated terminology?
    It is
