MATCH THREAD : Charlton Athletic V Millwall : Saturday 13th September 2025 : KO 12:30pm

Hi everyone...
So it's come hasn't it...today we welcome our close neighbours Millwall onto The Valley pitch for the first time for quite a while, and ain't we all looking forward to todays game, in front of what no doubt will be the biggest attendance of the season so far.
Millwall sit in 12th spot, four places and two points above us after a starting run of WLWL...so time for us to buck that trend and make it another L on the scale, I know our record ain't much to write home about, bit of an understatement I know, but it's about time we put that in the past, put in a shift and get that win on the board.
With a sold out JS and Covered End at full volume, the atmosphere will no doubt be both toxic and exciting in equal measures, this is a game we have all been looking forward to since the playoff final at Wembley and it's here now, so let's raise the roof with everyone in full voice, this match is ours, and surely we ain't gonna miss the opportunity to put one over on this lot...are we!

Nathan Jones said: "We’ve used the two weeks to get a bit of minutes into a few people, to rest up one or two and then there’s been one or two away", so naff all there given away...

Macaulay Langstaff and Zak Lovelace have returned to training for the visitors, though Casper De Norre, Billy Mitchell, Alfie Doughty and Femi Azeez have all picked up injuries...

HEAD-TO-HEAD...Not for the feint hearted...We've met on 76 previous occasions winning 12, losing 37 and the remaining 27 games resulting in draws, on their last trip to The Valley they claimed a 1-0 win back in July 2020.

Here we go then

Team news...

Charlie Kelman returns to the starting line-up for this afternoon’s clash as Nathan Jones makes one change.

The striker takes the place of Miles Leaburn, who moves to the bench and is joined by deadline day signing James Bree.

Kayne Ramsay, Lloyd Jones and Amari’i Bell will once again start in a back three in front of goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski.

Rob Apter, the Addicks’ August Player of the Month, and Josh Edwards will operate as wing-backs with Conor Coventry, Sonny Carey and skipper Greg Docherty playing in midfield.

Tyreece Campbell, who made his full international debut for Jamaica during the break, partners Kelman up front.

Bree and Leaburn are joined by Ashley Maynard-Brewer, Reece Burke, Macaulay Gillesphey, Joe Rankin-Costello, Ibrahim Fullah, Harvey Knibbs and Tanto Olaofe on the bench.

Charlton: Kaminski; Ramsay, Jones, Bell; Apter, Coventry, Carey, Docherty (c), Edwards; Kelman, Campbell

Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Burke, Gillesphey, Bree, Rankin-Costello, Fullah, Knibbs, Leaburn, Olaofe

  • Thank goodness I set off when I did this morning as I've just about managed to get parked by Charlton Park.

I'm sure it will have been a worthwhile journey because we always do so well against the Spanners ...
  • Regardless what Nathan Jones is saying things will not change today.
We will still not show up and come away with Nil points.
  • I think we'll get a point... a drab 0-0

We need Paul Mullin’s input as well
  • Just loving the high end coverage of the Championship - The commentators still suck - but the build up I think is solid

Thierry Small being interviewed as well today, that one will be on after the break - Wonder if we'll get mentioned

Back to the eleven that started the first two games... Which makes some sense - Makes me laugh... For all the hate Campbell gets on here, the amount of comments saying he should be dropped etc.

Its clear that Jones loves him, and wont if he can help it
  • Let the meltdown commence…

No Alfie Doughty for Millwall - To be honest apart from Ivanovic, Coburn, Cooper and Leonard, there arent many names I recognise

  • Campbell clearly being utilised for his pace in this team... No one can rival him in the 20-man squad for that role really.

Whether the fact he's flown around the world these last few weeks, with limited time at Sparrows Lane, will have an effect remains to be seen.

But I mean... If his team mates dont know how he plays now etc., there is a greater issue at hand
  • What a game this would be for Kelman to break his duck…
Can see him being the next George Tucudean.

He'll waste our best chance, and will be impossible for him to redeem himself as a result.

I would have started Knibbs. I think we'll struggle to unlock their defense
  • The love child starts again even after his international minutes, I give up
  • Really hope TC watched Jayden Philogene against Sheffield Utd last night. Similar players and would love to see TC really open the taps with his pace. He has the ability to do the same as Philogene, we saw it against Huddersfield last season. Cut inside and take a swing.

C'mon mate a hat trick in the first half...🤷‍♂️
  • Kelman to score
    Us to win 2-1
Brutal game where pretty football is sparse
    28 years of hurt eradicated
