  • Will be good for the Royal Oak, all those punters passing by.
  • most people that are involved in rucking at football will likely be getting up town as quick as possible, the only people affected are charlton fans as per usual.
Yep and it invariably never happens near the ground anyway 🙄
Just loads of arm waving and gesticulating over the old bills shoulder anywhere near the ground.
  • I am GENUINELY considering not going. I fucking hate this - id be quite happy to be let out together. They're not fucking invincible their a load of twats that dine out on 20 years ago's rep.
Regardless the police don't want the aggro or risk of it kicking off and logistically with their end right near Station it makes logical sense to clear 2k out asap on first trains than waiting for 20k to disperse and hold them in for longer.

Morally right no....but logically, rationally and logistically i.e. where the police look at it from a public disorder avoidance point of view it's sensible.

Please don't miss the game mate cos of something like this as irksome and seemingly unjust as it is.
  • This is absolutely ridiculous. Keep them in, lock them in the Jimmy Seed stand—if they do damage (as they inevitably will), send the bill to Millwall Football Club.

Why do we let Greenwich Police—or whoever—let us, the fans, be treated like this? This is scandalous.

I hope the supporters trust make a comment on this saying that they think it's ridiculous because if they've let this happen without a fight, they're pathetic.

Looks like there is an assumption that Charlton fans are all Kent bound. But there will be crossover outside the station.
    I think it's more like a 50/50 split

Normally I'd be taking the train back to London, but I had already decided to drive to this game, anticipating the hassle...

Just shows the incompetence of the Met and police in general as per though, this isn't surprising.

The smart move would be to keep them behind for 45 minutes or so, or in line with a few trains leaving, then give them their personal escort.

Their method just winds up the majority.
  • Why are people surprised, they did very similar last time we played them, I have memory that the West Stand people were held back after the whistle.
  • realistically when are we going to get on a London bound train?, as you would expect at least 90% of the away fans will be going this way.

Not one single club in the country does this except us.
No justification for it regardless of how you try and spin it.
I don't agree with it but can see why it's happening.

Just makes you appreciate and applaud the hoops we have to jump through just to support our beloved club, what with parking restrictions, crap KO times as is tomorrow at 12.30, now this bloody stupid idea...

  • spoke to my lads after the game just going to walk to Woolwich dockyard
  • Surely the old bill, the club and national rail could speak to each other as there are no direct trains from Deptford before or after the game. All train are fast from Lewisham to London Bridge. There is a bus replacement service from Deptford to Charlton.
  • The only thing i can think of in terms of attending football that is worse than this is when i read that away fans at Blackburn-Burnley could only go if they went by supporters coaches. Fans were only given their match ticket when they got on the coach on the day of the game.

Some Burnley fans lived in Blackburn, so they had to go to Burnley to get a bus which took them back to where they'd come from. And after the game, despite some of them living just a few minutes walk from the ground, they were herded onto the same buses and driven back to Burnley.
  • Prague has made a good point about Mick not being there anymore.
But I’d wager (as like the lock in last time) he would have had his objections noted in the minutes and they would have just done what in their eyes is easier.

How is it easier? The spanners should be kept in, like every other club in the country does with away fans. When the spanners play the likes of Leeds, they are bussed in and out of the ground.
    I’ve already explained why. Damage.
Busing is always easier when fans come from the motorways, they then get an escort to the ground by motorbikes.
Id wager you wouldn’t get Millwall onto any coaches to come to the Valley or any coach company to take them tbh.
Enforce it then. If they refuse to use coaches then they don’t get in the ground.

If as a consequence coach companies refuse to take them then don’t give them any tickets.

They would soon have a change in mentality rather than just pandering to them.
I actually don’t think they’d even consider it tbh.
Not all Millwall fans live in SE13. Are you going to insist they all go to the Den first to get on the coaches? It just creates more flashpoints and more policing.
I may not agree with any of it but I can see why they have made the decision.

But to use it as an excuse for losing the game……..ffs, have a word with yourselves. It’s like really believing that your lucky shirt which is still in the wash so you can’t wear it will be the reason we roll over again 🙄
Wouldn’t they just use there coach pick up points as they would for any other away game?

I have no idea where these are to be honest but can’t see them being anywhere near SE7.
  • Anyone have connections with the media ?  This needs to be put out to Sky, Talksport,  5Live etc.
    Don’t need the embarrassment.
The club  ?   Oh yes they do.

    Only way they will understand

Think they do the same for Swansea/ Cardiff games. Mind it’s a long bus ride from the NW down.

eye rolls I assume he means our fan don't need the world to know we have been rediverted at our home game.
  • will there be any restriction on pub opening times, I remember the last time the Anchor and Hope was closed before the game and an hour or so after.

    Same when Cardiff played Swansea.
