If the players can't get up for tomorrow with 20k cafc fans behind them then it's a question of bottle or ability....not rerouted exit routes.
It's annoying, muggy from the club but it is what it is.
Makes sense to get millwall out and away from the area and a tiny train station with plenty of potential flash points on a day the police are stretched with loads of London derbies and non football stuff.
Annoying and inconvenient and spineless from the club but that's the reality.
They've taken a pragmatic view even if it's not fair and not right.
They've not done it to mug off charlton fans.
Let's get some perspective...it makes fuck all difference to the outcome of the game.
Prague has made a good point about Mick not being there anymore. But I’d wager (as like the lock in last time) he would have had his objections noted in the minutes and they would have just done what in their eyes is easier.
How is it easier? The spanners should be kept in, like every other club in the country does with away fans. When the spanners play the likes of Leeds, they are bussed in and out of the ground.
And when we inevitably lose and their lot stay behind to goad us from the stands for 15 minutes after the game it'll all take a lot longer than planned anyway.
Turning a 5 minute walk into an 18 minute walk to appease the away fans. Quality.
Surely anyone that wants a scrap will get to do so at the station anyway?
I think the point is they'll be bundled on the first trains and out before charlton fans get there.
Directing anger at the club or plod is misplaced. It should be aimed at those (on both sides) who cant go to football in 2025 without acting like an inadequate c***.
Go to the woods and have a row like the Polish and Russian firms away from everyone else and let the rest of us crack on.

I’ve already explained why. Damage. Busing is always easier when fans come from the motorways, they then get an escort to the ground by motorbikes. Id wager you wouldn’t get Millwall onto any coaches to come to the Valley or any coach company to take them tbh.
How is it possible that the club and supporter reps have allowed the police to impose this without so much as a whimper?
And my brother wondered why I was so insistent on taking the bus from Blackheath ( where I’m staying) to Charlton Village and especially back that way.
Saw this coming all the way from Prague. Didn’t you, @castrust? And what about the invisible Fan Advisory Board with its supposed no-nonsense members we voted in?
I sometimes think that when we become “football fans” we somehow surrender our right to remind the police that they serve us, and we pay their sodding wages.
That's a massive assumption. How do you know the club etc. didn't push back?
Because they would have been told, if you don’t like it you’ll have to restrict ticket sales as in no away support.
Used to use the mounted to divide the roads so both sets could use. I’m guessing the mounted are all up town dealing with the weekly nonsense by the great unwashed. Blame them not the old bill, only so many of them to police all the football/protests that is happening in the capital on Saturday.
Why not lock Millwall in, and once the area is cleared let them out, like what would happen at the other 91 grounds for this sort of game?
Because the club probably don’t want to have to replace £’s of stuff that will inevitably be trashed is my guess.
So it's a club decision?
I wonder when the Fans Advisory Board and CAST knew about this. A while ago I am certain.
I remember a few years ago, us being held back to allow the Millwall fans to leave first, so not the first time we've been the ones inconvenienced at The Valley.
I can't imagine the same thing happening to the home fans at any other local derby.

Its an assumption, but hardly massive, because we’ve been here before, and on one of those occasions I used FOI to get the minutes of the meetings running up to what was widely considered to have been a fiasco. But people have obviously forgotten. And sleep-walked into another fiasco.
Fair enough. I just have a pet peeve for misdirected anger. As far as we know at this point this is on the police and to assume that the restrictions were unopposed seems unfair to me. The club is very different to what it was during previous occasions
Well one difference is we no longer have Mick Everitt, who was the club official with the most backbone in such matters.
Mick is still the club safety officer.
I thought he had retired. So what about @castrust then ? Did you make any effort to find out if this nonsense was being discussed, and try to remind them that fans find it unacceptable?

Collectively if they care, it does matter because it never has.

Your second para is key. We can understand that Charlton Station presents challenges. But not unique ones. And the up-town demands on police resources were not there several years ago when they did this to us.
I do think policing of football fans in general is getting more heavy handed. Cardiff v Swansea used to be the only bubble game but now we have the south coast derby too, police in general seem to be more happy to intervene in things now too. Not the individual officers fault of course but do think maybe they've been given some different instructions
Get treated like animals and act like animals.
The crazy thing is that the away fans can still travel(should they not have tickets) and have a row if they want to.
In this case on Sunday, no doubt there will be some Portsmouth fans that might live in the surrounding areas of Southampton and have to get over to Fratton Park for their transport.
This is not the 80's anymore, there are easier ways to control fans for high level games. What would happen if Portsmouth and Southampton played at Wembley? Oh yes, coach 90k fans in.

So because it happened before, it's going to happen again despite changes in ownership and personnel, there is no benefit of the doubt.
Whatever the club, the trust or supporters say, once The Met say this is what will happen along with Greenwich Council ... the fans and clubs views are worth diddly squat.
Of course we could use it as yet another opportunity to knock the club!

Enforce it then. If they refuse to use coaches then they don’t get in the ground.
If as a consequence coach companies refuse to take them then don’t give them any tickets.
They would soon have a change in mentality rather than just pandering to them.

It would have been a joint decision. There would have been multiple meetings to discuss these issues once they requested the old bill for this category match and got told, sorry but we’ve only got so many to go around.
Regardless on whether it was a joint decision, the club are in the wrong for excepting it. The only club in the country to keep home fans in and now this. Grow some fucking balls and keep them in. You have to wonder why some many times the team doesn’t show up when we play them and the club does this sort of thing.
100%
I'll be very surprised if there are not any games when the spanners do not get kept in. In any rate, if I am wrong no doubt they are used to being kept in from times gone by so it will not be much of a problem.
Keep them in for 45 minutes and in that time the vast majority of the surrounding area will be empty AND into the bargain hopefully the spanners will be able to get on their trains back home more easier and quicker.
As far as I am concerned what they are doing now creates MORE problems.
I am GENUINELY considering not going. I fucking hate this - id be quite happy to be let out together. They're not fucking invincible their a load of twats that dine out on 20 years ago's rep.

I actually don’t think they’d even consider it tbh. Not all Millwall fans live in SE13. Are you going to insist they all go to the Den first to get on the coaches? It just creates more flashpoints and more policing. I may not agree with any of it but I can see why they have made the decision.
But to use it as an excuse for losing the game……..ffs, have a word with yourselves. It’s like really believing that your lucky shirt which is still in the wash so you can’t wear it will be the reason we roll over again 🙄
most people that are involved in rucking at football will likely be getting up town as quick as possible, the only people affected are Charlton fans as per usual, although bit of perspective its easier to get 3000 people out of an area quicker than 20,000 who are probably going to be better behaved.

anyone wanting to have a pop will just do so at the station so just moves the trouble on.
Yep, nailed on we'll lose now.
Mick would have feed back to senior management meeting at CAFC
Fans advisory board, cafc board and CAST are not involved

Not until we've got our train numbers jotted down
