4,000 Millwall walk-ups on Saturday. What could possibly go wrong?
To be fair, if this was the other way around we'd have people on here spitting their dummies out demanding more tickets if whole blocks are empty.
What's the view from the other side @MillwallFan ? (well, amongst those of you that have had their allotted hour of internet access this week AND can read, which I appreciate is probably not very many!)
Not fussed really. We rarely get given extra tickets.

Zone 3 extension to the West Stand Block H appears to be a resounding failure.Very few bought since the announcement.
goes some way to proving my point about ticket prices not being the defining factor about attendance - for most a few extra quid is fine - signing up to a dull, depressing experience isn't
I think it's too early to tell whether it's a failure, or more specifically how much of a failure. I believe the ticket prices are a definite fail. However Block H west stand remain the cheapest seats available, at this stage and for walk ups on the day, when if on the database, adults will be asked to pay £33 with the Katie tax included. Are we selling on the day? website doesn't say in its 23,000 sold story.
We should have a home ticket re-sale site on Charlton Life. If tickets going spare for whatever reason sell them on for say 50% to fellow members .. Better to have bums on seats than the empty ones ..

Yeah I went through that process with Gemini. We needed a brief conversation to first agree upon the count of all dots, it needed some context. Red & grey adding up to the actual capacity of the Curbs was my main validation point.
If i couldn't get to Charlton as a kid I used to find this round ball thingy and kick it around a park or fields emulating my hero's , with some mates, randoms whoever, crazy idea
Fields?? You must have lived in the sticks then. On Saturdays the school playgrounds were locked up so playing football meant a trek to Blackheath, Charlton Park or Greenwich Park and nobody ever fancied doing that.
Really. We also had both parts of Plumstead Common, one with the adventure playground which was pretty new when I was a kid, Winn Common, Shrewsbury Park, Bostall woods, Oxleas, Charlton and Maryon Wilson parks. Loads to do with just the green spaces, rather than trekking up to the Old Kent Road to make yourself feel dirty 🤷🏻♂️
I grew up in SE3 so like I said, we rarely fancied the (walking) trek to the local parks let alone the bus (busses) trek to the green space places you had local(ish) to you.
Sutcliffe park , Greenwich park , Blackheath common all much nearer than the Den from SE3
I’d jump on two buses from Mottingham to get to those places early eighties wasn’t a big deal
Looks like another one went this morning and the rest of today should probably see more blocks shaded out and just leaving those far southern end ones and a few solitary seats in the middle for any walk ups tomorrow. A final gate number of 25k looks likely is my guess unless there is a big old school walk up tomorrow morning.which, given it is Charlton v Millwall, probably shouldn’t be ruled out.

What happens with the walk ups then? Assume you still have to show a buying history?

I would assume the club will look you up on the database

Also a visual check on attire, especially head gear.

All in one grey tracksuits, ability to bounce up and down and make slitting throat gestures to opposing fans whilst Shirley Carter lookalikes pop in and out of existence

Had this conversation on here lots. Some do, some don’t. The majority do though I would say. You might hear or see Millwall fans saying they don’t care for Charlton but they won’t be speaking for all of us.
Anyone who says they don't care is lying. Probably the games that both sets of fans looked for first when the fixtures were released and i'd guess that both games will probably be the quickest sell outs of away allocations all season. I think you lot sold it out before the season had even started.
For the vast majority I agree. And that’s why tickets sell out rapid. But not for everyone. Some I know couldn’t give a toss about palace and Charlton. For them it’s only West Ham and palace and Charlton is just another London derby. I don’t get that mentality myself. And as I say, those types are in a minority.
For me personally it was definitely the first fixture I looked for and I’ve been buzzing for the game all week.
Charlton millwall more of an everton liverpool neighbourly rivalry …
That's how I'd always seen it growing up....was too young to witness the terrace violence/ firms etc so perhaps had a different view to older fans but never had any issue with millwall growing up and didn't see it as a big rivalry even at the 4 -1 pre season friendly i went to with a millwall season.
Has seemed a lot more of a rivlary/ more important local Derby since as we've played each other more regularly and we've been utterly dismal.
Long may it continue as the day football is like rugby with rival fans sitting side by side during matches will be the death of it for me. Stabbing each other over football is too far. Some sort of happy medium would be desirable.
Good post and spot on, especially the last paragraph.
Do you think it’s become a bigger rivalry because of the unbeaten run? I mean, it must really get under your lots skin, and we love taking the piss, so it’s really simmered.
All good runs come to an end (unless we're talking about Huddersfield) and when we win on Saturday the misery of the last few decades (f*ck me it does hurt to say it!) will be expunged. You are only as good as your last result!
P.S. I pray to whatever Gods there may be that this comment doesn't come back to bite me on the arse at around 2.20pm on Saturday!
And if we can draw a similarity to 95/96 - Millwall were above us when we beat them in the snow (although not playing well, a bit like now) in December and we virtually sealed their relegation in the Spring - whatever month that was. If we're discounting the 4-1 friendly win in 2007, and if there is a pattern to this curse, Millwall are due to go into a tailspin and we can put a lid back on them like we did for a decade after the 96 win. Simple.
Whatever month it was??? We dropped in to the relegation zone in the last 15 minutes off the season ffs 😫
oh, and sorry to burst your bubble but the same scenario is very unlikely. Whatever the result this Saturday is, we’re in much better hands this time 😉
Rattled your cage though didn't he
Any mention of our relegation in 95/96 will rattle my cage. We was top in December ffs. Did I mention, we dropped in to the relegation zone in the last 15 minutes of the season? 😞 (still haven’t gotten over it)
Didnt Mick McCarthy leave for the Ireland job halfway through the season? Was that the cause of the freefall?
yes but they were also playing dour, poor football and generally nicking wins by the odd goal - results better than performances which nearly always catches up with you eventually
He had a decent run with Ireland first time around. Remember watching the France 98 playoff game on channel 5, losing to Belgium. Was gutted.
