  • BBC radio commentators absolutely purring about the performance in Serbia tonight.
  • Cape Verde on the verge of World Cup qualification after beating Cameroon 1-0 tonight.

That would be a third qualifier who have never been to a World Cup before. They have two games in October to get the three points they need to be sure, and one of the games is at home to the last-placed team in their group.

England currently hold the biggest points lead (7) of any European team in qualifying.

A win in Latvia next month guarantees at least a playoff berth. Follow that up with a draw or better against Serbia at Wembley in November and we’ll be in the draw in December.

In Cape Verde's instance it's due to them being good rather than due to the expansion.
