Interesting that he's joining up with Appleton again. Chuks did actually enjoy a nice little run under Appleton during that period where we won 3 and drew 3, he was really good and looked happy and confident. Appleton did start him twice in that period though and ultimately broke him against Reading in October so he wasn't back until February. In fact, I don't think Chuks has started a football match since then. Brilliant signing for a L2 side and will unfortunately probably keep Appleton his job as long as he's learned his lesson about giving him more than 20ish minutes
It says something, that yet another player who we let go ends up at the wrong end of L2.
Don’t think that has much to do with his footballing ability though. He’s easily a league 1 level footballer which he showed with the impact he made last season for us
Happy to see him find another club, thought there was a good chance he’d pack it in. Financially he doesn’t need to carry on so must be doing it because he still really wants to play football. Hope he smashes it
Surprised that he has found another club, or indeed that he is still wanting to play.
Not surprised that there is no mention of the contract, just a reference to being an option "until the end of the season".
I don't know how football contracts work but assume there is a "pay per play" structure linked to time on the pitch / goals scored / wins contributed too / relegation avoided...
Either way, a shame that a quality footballer like Chuks has had to lower himself to Shrewsbury and even further to Appleton.
Not trying to look down on other clubs but it must be a bit of a climb down for Chuks to be playing for Shrewsbury. The ground is League 1 /League 2 level and nowhere near The Valley or St Andrews.......or even Stadium MK.
Sad to say that I expect the only reason why he got the gig there WAS because of Appleton. No-one else wanted him & sounds like Apples rang him (prob in desperation) to see if he wanted to drop down to League 2.

What do you expect, him to sign for Newcastle as isaaks replacement?
we had a few good years out of chucks where he was a top L1 player, unplayable at times. We are all aware of his fitness issues and it says nothing about us a a club that he has ended up in L2.
Last time he played League Two was seven years ago, just before he signed for us the first time, scoring 17-goals in 38-games for a Milton Keynes side... Maybe that's a better level for his fitness levels... If he gets game time, he'll be another one to compare with Kanu, Mbick and Dixon.

How does this forum collectively know that financially he doesn’t need to carry on?
Sounds like he's a happy man in that Shrewsbury video, and liking the link up with Apples again...🤦♂️ I liked the guy, and always tried his best for us when fit to play that was, so wish him well at Shrewsbury Town...let's see how he fairs...

He’s got a personal property portfolio worth over £2m and his own property business. It’s a guess but I’d say he’d earn more money if he retired and focused full time on that, than he is earning from Shrewsbury who probably have one of the lower budgets in league 2. There’s loads of references to him being very switched on with his money, even from when he was younger at arsenal

Whether it's down to ability or fitness, he sadly isn't a L1 footballer now, or else a L1 club would have signed him
And to be honest, last season he wasn't even that impactful when he came on. If he had retired in the summer, it wouldn't have been a massive shock.

I'm not sure that's entirely true.
Good luck Chuks 👍

All the best to him

Also the “how I play bit” - when’s that then?
Seriously, hope it works out for him. Shame his career has been blighted by injury.
