Loan watch 25/26

  • Certainly seems to be going well for Bower
  • If I’m being generous to Dixon on his missed one on one, it looks very awkward but I’m pretty sure he’s intentionally tried to dummy the keeper before rounding him when he’s on his backside.

Unfortunately the keeper didn’t fully take the bait and was able to recover.

I’m sure he will learn for next time though. One thing that appeared is impressive was how he beat the offside trap to get through on goal in the first place.
  • Not directly related to us but Crawley have signed Ryan Loft from Cambridge who is very much a striker in the big lump style. Wonder how Dixon will play with him, a great opportunity to improve his crossing and learn to anticipate and read knock downs/flick ons
  • Still possible that Rylah and others go on loan to National League sides although our U21 side is looking very short of forwards with PC, DK, MM and KD out on loan.

I’m doubtful any of them go, the U21 squad is small and clearly Jones wants Mwamba and Fullah at the very least to be around the first team, would imagine Enslin, Gough and Rylah are just behind the in the pecking order

At the moment Casey is only on loan for a month. Maybe someone else will go out if he returns.

Or he goes elsewhere, this move doesn’t seem to be working out. He needs to be playing men though, he’s in the middle ground where he’s too good for the u21s but not at senior level yet
  • Vurtue cup tonight. Any loanees featuring?
  • The Colchester FM researcher is expecting Mbick to be on the bench, they have two target men ahead of him (Tovide and Goodwin, who we've both been linked with). He said both are injury prone and one of the is out for another month. Mentioned Tovide could be sold in January, so things could change for him over the course of the season.

A Mitchell not involved for Plymouth, Ahadme starts for Stevenage v Asiimwe-less Wombles, Kanu misses out for Walsall, no Mbick for Colchester, no fixture for Northampton

Having watched his debut, He is not up to the physical nature of non league whatsoever, needs to seriously hit the gym

Is he? A couple of years ago he looked like being a major prospect, but I don't recall him doing much in the last couple of years, with the likes of Mbick who's a year younger overtaking him.

Casey has gone to a NLS club, Mbick has gone to a L2 club.

Putting it another way, Casey needs to play senior football to develop.

He can score goals at u21 level inside and outside the box because it’s not as physical and aggressive. If he’s going to make it in the EFL he needs to be stronger and hold up the ball well, and/or be very good at dropping deep and linking the play.

He’s not going to be a Dixon running the channels and getting in behind. At any level a club is going to want a pacey striker to offer that.

They all should be available on Sky Sports +

As the 3pm blackout doesn't come into effect if a certain percentage of games aren't being played in the top two Divisions.
  • Maidstone were 3-0 down away at Weston-Super-Mare by the 48th minute. Casey came on just before the 80 minute mark.

No idea how he played in the 10+ mins he got.
  • Glad he got back on the pitch

  • Gas should have had a Hattrick, both his goals were simple finishes but him being in the right place at the right time, first one following up a parried shot, second one making himself open square on for an open goal.
