Only positives for me are Fullah's positivity, capped by a good goal and Kelman looking sharp with a couple of half chances. Other than that, Olaofe has done okay on the odd occasion he's received a ball to feet...really struggling after that.3
-
HT 2-1 …. Kelman very unlucky not to have a couple of goals … Olaofe working hard , but midfield not generating much , to many young players in the defence… there going to get bullied especially with Cambridge main two strikers on their own pitch …..0

Lots of changes and Nathan Jones is giving the kids some invaluable experience against a side known for it's physicality. Wasn't fluid at all for thirty mins but we started creating chances after the second went in. Kelman has been unlucky with a couple of half chances, interesting to see how the next 45 pans out, with Mbick possibly introduced to get about their back line.2

Appalling for a while but better towards the end of the half.Fullah is a real talent and gives some supporters the chance to misspell another of our players names. What's not to like?!0

As with those games though it’s more about fitting him in because he’s too good a footballer not to, rather than him being a wing back.

Did the second goal go through AMB legs ??0
-
I just don't get it.
I can live with the starting line up but that subs bench - full of kids 2 of whom apparently played for the U-21s this afternoon - is just a piss take by Jones out of everyone who has travelled tonight.
Why on earth don't we take the cup seriously? Win this and we could have had say Arsenal or Man utd at home under the floodlights.
But oh no, let's just muck about in it again and go out in the early rounds as usual.
Well I'm fed up of that attitude.

Awful 40 minutes. Defensively weak, no creativity and the only forward passes were punts forward
The changes after AMB's life threatening injury improved things, as it got Fullah on the ball in a more central position.
I still think Zach is a good footballer, but playing in the middle of the 3, you've got to be a hardcore, strong and dominant centre back, and he isn't that yet.

Charlton only started to play once Maynard- Brewer went down injured (hmm). We’ve had 60.5 of the procession. Should be a fantastic second half 🥸0

Only bright spark was the goal. Kelman will get pelters but he's hardly had a chance - 1 shot from a tight angle that he was unlikely to score from & another half chance on the turn.
Look at their first goal - 4 or 5 crisp passes from inside out half & then a cut back to a player who just needed to finish from 6 yards out.
When did we last do that ?

Zach Mitchell is clearly a Millwall sleeper agent working in conjunction with Neil Harris. Get him off.2
-
Midfield needs to remember defensive duties. When Charlton pass & play to feet, they look much much better.1

we must stay in the championship. We do not need to play Everton at the valley to achieve that7 -

HT Cambridge United 2 #cafc 1.Change of shape near the end of the first half to a 4-3-1-2 formation - Mitchell went to LB with Fullah on the right of a narrow midfield three. The Addicks have had 60 per cent possession in that period but didn't always feel like it.Game back on after Fullah's finish. Looks so composed on the ball, the youngster just didn't see enough of it in the opening 45 minutes.
RC on the formation change.4 -
One good thing from tonight. Celtic are out of the Champions League. Lost 3-2 on pens after 2 0-0 matches. They are worse than us.0

Pulse rates down everyoneWho knows if the second half can see some improvement? If it doesn’t then the more established names are doing themselves no favours for a bigger role on Saturday. But only one goal it so a half time rollicking from NJ may do the trick.0 -
While other Championship clubs are playing weakened starting 11's, they all have first teamers on the bench, should they be needed.
Nathan's selection sends the message that he's not bothered about the outcome & this must translate to the senior players, such as Kelman, Olaofe,Knibbs so don't think we should read too much into how they perform in this game.3 -
Don’t understand this ‘cup doesn’t matter’ attitude. Would love to get a big club at the Valley in the third round.4
-
Too many times are we booting ball high in air when clearing, what happenned to passing?
No experienced players on bench, so the main starting 11 will have to improve0 -
I expect some rotation, but it's nonsense to suggest that a small cup run will hinder us.
Win tonight, get a big boy in the 3rd round, have respectable exit, that extra game is hardly going to kill the squad.4 -

I'm still giggling at "Isiaih Fullah, a name to remember" but someone's finally corrected the Sky commentator.7
