I would think if he has a good start to the season, he will get into the squad.

Yeah, the Championship is very different. If he plays well, he'll be hard to ignore.

More than George Dobson? Can't be true 😉

For me still slightly underrated (not saying people don’t think he’s good) by the fan base as he followed Dobson.

Him, Jones, and Ramsey are the three I personally would say are ‘safe’ championship quality.

Coventry tackles without fuss, interceptions, nicks the ball off people. He wins possession for possession not applause

Also, he doesn’t have a top knot, yet.

He's absolutely class. My favourite current Charlton player.

Feel he will just get better and better with us the more he plays. One of those players as well where I feel the better the quality around him, the better he will look.

I think it's really important we negotiate a new contract before he goes into his final year after this coming season. Expecting him to have a decent season and he will have suitors. Our rebuild should be based around players like Cov and Ramsay who are in their early to mid twenties and consistent performers.

No. Bcause he’s in the right position in the first place and not making a last ditch slide tackle

There's a lot of room for him to grow. I hope to see some improvement in his forward passing, for one. He has the potential to be a top player, but for me he's not quite there yet.

Not to put a dampener on his contribution in the latter half of last season because he was key.

not spectacular - but he goes about his business.

we miss him massively when he doesn't play is probably the best compliment.

I like him a lot, he's the player who my son looks up to as the type of midfielder he wants to be, he likes that Connor doesn't fly into tackles and reads the game, always in others passing lanes to cut out passes, and gets the team ticking

A lovely bit of play in the play-off semi-final home leg. CC received the ball, showed quick feet, and put in an excellent left-footed cross with pace to Godden. He expertly controlled the ball, went on the outside, and dipped a cross towards LJ, who just couldn't get his side-parting around the ball.

Mine too. We'd have been lost without him.

And me. As someone said earlier he is also my favorite player in a very long time. Just oozes class, gets about his business beautifully.

The fact he won players pots says it all.

Didn't LJ, quite rightly, win POY ? CC and Ramsay close seconds.

    He’s our metronome.

In a footballing context, a “metronome” refers to a midfielder, often a deep-lying playmaker or “regista,” who controls the tempo and rhythm of a team’s play. This player dictates the pace of the game through precise passing, intelligent positioning, and composure on the ball, acting as the creative hub that links defense to attack. By maintaining possession, choosing when to slow down or accelerate play, and distributing the ball effectively, the metronome ensures smooth transitions and creates opportunities for teammates. Examples include players like Andrea Pirlo, Xavi Hernandez, and Toni Kroos, known for their ability to orchestrate play with vision and technical skill.”

I think there's a bit more to come from him in terms of getting on the ball and dictating play with forward passes from deep. He's made a lot of tackles but where he really excels is his positioning and reading of the game. That's a big reason his tackling stats are so high because when an opponent plays the ball forwards it is so often CC who is already there waiting to make the interception or press the receiving player. He's almost never diving in with a last-ditch sliding tackle, it's all done on his feet, nicking the ball away, and then retaining possession. If he can start to play with a clearer picture in his head of what his next pass is and make more of those passes more incisive, progressive passes, and add a few goals a season, then he will play top end of the Championship, at least. I think there's been improvement of him in this area while he's been with us and I don't think he's nearly hit his ceiling yet. I'm very hopeful he is one of the established squad that will handle the step up in level with relative ease.

Only 4 midfielders in the Ireland squad so Conor misses out, surely he'll get a call up soon if he keeps playing like this though

The guy who got called up at St Mirren must be an absolute world beater to get in ahead of Coventry right now!

I’m sure if he carries on as he is, he’ll be in the next squad. Shame he didn’t make this one.

Shame for him, but glad he'll get a rest and there's less risk of an injury whilst playing for Ireland.
