You was before BDL/Big Brian ? John Fuller ? I’ve been going since 93 and I’m sure there was someone before them.
When we first went back to The Valley the role was primarily done from the control box, with someone else doing the mike on pitch for things such as Vally Gold Draw. This role continued to increase over the years.
The role from memory has been done by
Jon Fuller Steve Dixon (IMO the best in the role) Brian Cole Jon Lucy's Pete Nuttall Dave Lockwood Brian Cole Dave Lockwood
Is the PA system getting an upgrade along with the floodlights? It does need it as the current system is very old tech. serious question, has the mic been checked recently 🤷🏻♂️they don’t last forever and it’s 50 quid for a decent one these days.
BDL has always been “the” announcer for me, and to be brutally honest, I have always much preferred him. No disrespect to Brian Cole and I enjoyed his palarse thing, each to their own but I didn’t love his interview style with former players etc…
But more particularly what really didn’t sit well with me was his decision to take it up under Roland after BDL took a stance and stepped down during the protests. Working for them, in those circumstances and at that moment, I felt came across as a very self-interested decision when every supporter was trying to do everything they reasonably could to invalidate a regime for which we are still suffering the consequences today.
