Sorry fellas, I thought Scoham was asking if it was the same Ben Godfrey which surprised me at the time as he's so good with knowing our Yoof team... As it is, its my inability to read as usual.fenaddick said:
To be clear I was referring to the ex Norwich one as he went to Everton and then when he moved from there seemingly sort of disappeared from the public consciousnessForeverAddickted said:
Different one, thats the one who came through at NorwichScoham said:
I remember the one in our academy, this is a different Ben Godfrey.fenaddick said:Ben Godfrey (remember him?) has joined Sheff Utd on loan

Wasn't our Godfrey an attacking player as well?0 -
Also, when it comes to bones in midfield, its been done:North Lower Neil said:
Wrexham being linked with a £7.5m bid for Smallbone from Southampton, not sure if that might be because Rathbone is injured or just they like bones in midfield.Lincsaddick said:
shows how they miss the injured Rathbone, he plays a difficult role to duplicate, I doubt Doyle can do itMarcusH26 said:https://www.wrexhamafc.co.uk/news/2025/august/21/signed---wrexham-afc-sign-callum-doyle-from-manchester-city/

Yes correct, it’s 10 mill including add ons, so at a guess initial figure would probably be around the 7 or 8 million mark. As the old cliche goes, for that money I’d drive him to Sheffield myself! The main add on is usually if the buying club gets promoted. Rumour was we earned an extra million on the Fleming deal when Burnley got promoted last season.Chris_from_Sidcup said:
Thought i'd misread that and had to check online. 10m is crazy although Sheff utd can afford it as they've made over 20m in sales this summer. It says the 10m is apparently including add ons though, so not sure what the actual main fee is.MillwallFan said:
10 mill for Tanganga. Brilliant bit of business for a player we signed on a free last year.ThomasOliver3 said:
I see you've also lost Alfie already to yet another hamstring injury. Was a stupid buy, not on ability but because he can't stay fit. Losing Ivanovic & Tanganga plus Alfie should hopefully put you nicely back into mid-table... delightful!MillwallFan said:
My thoughts exactly. Hope it doesn’t get hijacked by one at the last minute. I mean, it’s not ideal selling to a championship rival, but we have to be pragmatic here. That’s a lot of money for a club of our size and I’d be over the moon if we got that, when I thought he would go for 1.2 a few weeks ago.fenaddick said:
Mad that a bottom end PL club isn't snapping him up for £1.2m, even just as a rotation optionMillwallFan said:
Said it on here before, wouldn’t be too catastrophic if Tanganga went. We have a ready made replacement in Camra. Also, because it’s not a PL club who are in for him, we’ll get a nice bit of wedge for him, (the £1.2 mill buy out clause was for PL club’s only). The talk is 5 mill with 2 million off add ons. Not bad for a player we got on a free in the summer.Covered End said:

https://x.com/danielmarsh92/status/1958580401309450248?s=46&t=A-w3Eq0EWWpjMxring904QWould be absolutely gutted if Ivanovic went but I just can’t see it. We have him on a recently signed 3 year contract and have no reason to sell.Ivanovic going no where according to his uncle on twitter.Alfie will be back , but in the meantime we’ve got good cover for that position.Delightful indeed 😊
Football fees are ridiculous right now, and i wonder how long it will be before we see the next club crashing and burning due to financial issues. It definitely won't be you though, Flemming, Esse and Tanganga must be 30m in incomings over the past year now?A lot of people were taking the piss out of us for having such a low buy out clause with Tanganga, but having that clause was the only way he would’ve signed in the first place and as it happens, that was only for PL clubs. None of who showed an interest, so really worked in our favour in the end. And a very low risk gamble for us as we signed him on a free anyway. It was a no brainer really. And yes about 30 million for those three players. Ivanovic will be worth at least half that himself at the end of this season. It’s good because the money is always being reinvested in the team where as in the past when we sold one of our star players the money would just get lost in the running costs of the club.3 -
Can’t argue that you’ve done well out of the outgoings. Maybe you can invest in some anti rust paint for your little stadium 😬😬😬MillwallFan said:

For that release clause i'm surprised someone like Burnley or Sunderland didn't sign him. If they get relegated then they can use him in the Championship next season or if they survive and want better players then they sell him on for about 5m.MillwallFan said:

If I was Potter I would have bought him for the release clause, then immediately sold him to Sheffield United for £5m, just for the bants. He would have become a West Ham legend

It’s good because the money is always being reinvested in the team where as in the past when we sold one of our star players the money would just get lost in the running costs of the club.1 -

TBF if there's something Wrexham are missing it's a 30+ year old Striker on the decline17

Thought they'd sign Danny Ings for most of the summer to fill that role. Obviously he's off to Sheffield United instead so they need someone else to fill that quotaDyerConsequences said:TBF if there's something Wrexham are missing it's a 30+ year old Striker on the decline1 -

Is it £10m though ... it's what I'd read (£6-£7m)
You make it sound as though Millwall are Brentford or Brighton, when in effect you've sold one academy player and scouted one player for Europe, it's hardly a tried and trusted player investment model. It might be good for the bank balance but it also won't help you progress up the league. Lets see on Ivanovic he's literally had half a good season.
Alfie will always been injured he gets a major injury every season

I'm still not clear why we have a Millwall fan on our forum anyway. He's never been a WUM, unlike a fair few Charlton fans on here. The stuff they've been posting recently about Millwall transfers has been interesting, for me at least, as I'm still learning about how much money there actually is in the Championship, after years of having to focus on league one. It's intriguing to see just how much players are going for after short stints in this league, even more so as we have players that could be worth £6m+ in the following years if we stay up.14
