Considering the rough journey they’ve had over the years that is fantastic news! We’re on a similar path, just shows that when there’s turmoil there can still be light at the end of the tunnel.

Well done and here’s hoping we can do the same.

amongst other stuff in football trying to be regulated, and appreciate legally challenging, but there should be rules that clubs are not allowed to sell off or separate ownership of their stadium from the club itself (where they already have it, obviously not possible if not!).

Take away that option to raise money and I suspect a lot more clubs will start to go out of business.

This problem has sort of already been solved (in the EFL at least) as it can no longer count as profit for FFP. Splitting the club at the point of sale is very rare, we're an unfortunate anomaly

It is not that rare and is always a source of trouble. Bury are a tragic example of what can go wrong. Today’s visitors are potentially in the same boat. You should listen to the Price of Football podcast. Kieran Maguire, the main man on it, has all the examples on hand. He argues that an owner should not be allowed to sell the club but keep the stadium has done. He was a key adviser to Tracey Crouch in development of the Fan Led Review so there is a good chance that the Regulator will take up the issue. It will not be able to do anything retrospectively about Duchatelet, but it would further undermine the old arsehole’s valuation of the stadium, as no future buyer would be able to do what he has done.

From BBC: The club has not revealed how much it paid Fraser Group, however, it was last purchased for £17m in 2022 by tycoon Mike Ashley.

Stadium ownership is not covered in the legislation.
Good on Coventry in any case.

    Pleased for Coventry.
  • Good on them.  Amazing we have ended up with a man who fought for the living wage in Belgium and considered himself a man of the people but turns out to be less reasonable than Mike Ashley.

    Nice one Coventry.

A club and its stadium should never be parted. That we have had the misfortune three times in our history, Catford, shithole, and Upton Park is bad enough.  However the Lord of Darkness, should be paid off at the earliest of convenience.

Oh, and unlucky QPHahahah, hope it don't come back to bite us next week.

And that’s the reason this rule shouldn’t exist?

I've never listened to his podcasts but they do sound very informed and worth listening to. Looking, I see he has done loads. Any specific ones you would recomend please. eg I can't actually find the 1 on this.
