Not saying he'd be any good, just it's a cheap alternative Levy might go for now they're getting desperate.
I'd say no chance on that.
We're overloaded for wingers. We need a no.10 or at least a player who can cover no.10 and the wing. Unless we try Kudus at no.10 but we need him on the right. Last Saturday proved exactly why we need him wide. First time I've seen one of our wingers beat a full back on the outside and put a ball in since the days of Bale. For as good as Johnson is at getting to the far post for a tap in, he just doesn't have the ability to beat a full back.

Which is odd as the only other player i've seen you linked with recently is Savinho who plays in the same position as Kudus.

Would be surprised if Nuno lasts much longer. Marinakis rarely needs much of an excuse to sack a manager and it felt like the end of last season they were already on rocky ground.
One thing I find interesting is Newcastle, Forest and Villa fans last season thought they would overtake Arsenal as a threat . If you look at how the season finished and the transfer activity of all those clubs this summer it’s clear to see Arsenal are miles ahead of all of them.

Did they really? Other than maybe some deluded Newcastle fans, I can't see it.

It was a small minority of Forest fans in fairness but the other two quite large numbers

Well let's face it, with your known allegiances, you wouldn't !!! Newcastle won a trophy. Remind us, how many trophies did Arsenal win? Newcastle beat Arsenal 3/4 times they met and Arsenal managed just one goal in those four games. But for the Isak saga that doesn't sound to me that they would have been too far behind.

They just don't have any pull/sway in the transfer market. Even if Isak stayed, every other 'top' team have recruited at the top level such as Liverpool/City. Then you have Newcastle signing Elanga and Ramsey. Different planet of market.

That's called Financial Fair Play - a mechanism designed to make sure that the top 6 remain the top 6.

I did see most Newcastle fans vocal about moving above Arsenal around the time there was two games remaining .
They were going to finish above Arsenal including beating them in one of their two remaining games.
Arsenal won both their games, Newcastle didn’t pick up a point, Isak their star player who won’t be sold never wants to play for the club again.

Newcastle hadn't bought anyone for three transfer windows but still managed to beat Arsenal 3/4 times and win a trophy when Arsenal won, well, nothing. How do you explain that? It's all very well given it a "LOL" but those are the facts.
Find me a single player that has joined Newcastle and used the League Cup win as a reasoning for joining such a massive club and I'll let you have that one.

Sorry but that is the answer one would expect from an Arsenal devotee. It isn't one.

Do you think with Isak in their current squad they're amongst the favourites to challenge for the title? Genuinely? Because that was the entire topic until you decided to mention the League Cup for no reason.
The ridiculous PSR rules will ensure that the big clubs who are already established and already have high revenue will always have an advantage. Look at Villa, their record signing is 50m, coming off the back of a season in the CL, they have billionaire owners who want to spend big but they can't. Meanwhile United finished 15th, are not in Europe at all, and have gone out and spent more than 50m each on three new attackers.
If PSR didn't exist, we'd see Newcastle going on a spending spree like Chelsea and Man City.
If we look at the money spent so far this summer, if Arteta doesn't win a major trophy this season after a net spend of almost 300m then he has to be gone. A lot has been made of Liverpool's signings and yes they've spent 300m but they've also recouped 200m in sales.

The facts are also that Newcastle haven’t finished above Arsenal in the league since the 1990s.

But if the Saudi's suddenly decided they didn't want to fund the club then Newcastle would be screwed as the debts would rack up very quickly and it would be hard to find someone able to pay them. PSR isn't perfect but it goes some way to helping.
The whole thing is a game and one that Newcastle play badly. Newcastle could sell Isak, put all the money in this years accounts and then spread the spending of it over 4/5 years. In essence they could probably buy enough players to actually make the team better, even with a worse striker. Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth have done it well. They have good sporting directors and coaches with distinct style of play. Newcastle have pragmatist Eddie Howe and his nephew, how are they giving themselves a chance to compete with that structure?

Liverpool seem to have an uncanny knack to get excellent deals for fringe players too. £25m for Ben Doak just the latest.

You conveniently make it all about the League Cup but fail to answer why Newcastle beat Arsenal 3/4 times when they are so far behind as a club. So how did they manage to do that to your team? Genuinely?

Probably the same reason I wouldn't say Bournemouth are close to overtaking Arsenal either. Games happen and head-to-head in the grand scheme of winning/challenging for the league doesn't actually matter all that much.
Arsenal lost 4 games last season, Newcastle lost 12.

Newcastle won exactly the same number of games as Arsenal did in the PL. I'm afraid head-to-heads do matter when it comes to cups and when you lose both legs of a cup competition, you don't tend to win that trophy. Which is why Arsenal won zilch and that has been the same for the last five seasons. But as you keep telling us - that's all the fault of those pesky Refs!
Surprised Saudi hasn't tried to move any of the younger players from their league to Newcastle
Would they be able to get work permits?
I don't mean young Arabians, I mean the younger players that moved to Saudi last season, like Neves, Duran (who's now at Fenerbache on loan) Simakan etc

Wonder what the wages are like and whether Newcastle would be able to shoulder them without getting into trouble.

I do wonder why Isak wants to leave if they're in such a great spot going forwards.
