A few people are saying it’s borough wide but I live in one part of Eltham, my parents another. Can anyone saying it’s every street in the borough point me to the scheme in Eltham?

Can we assume that all members of Greenwich council do not own cars, and either cycle or use public transport to get to work. I read their strategy and am just dumbfounded by the sheer ignorance and arrogance of these people. Do they expect residents who at the moment park freely to suddenly volunteer to pay to park outside their own homes. How do people get to and from work ,if everyone jumped on a bus,you would have queues a mile long.Trains are already overcrowded and rarely run on time, what would happen if the requirement for a train seat doubled, can you imagine the chaos at overcrowded stations, then the havoc of the onward journey to a place of work. We have had one year where our country has been made the laughing stock of the world, and our local councils are doing their best to alienate everyone who wished to drive a car. Emergency elections should be called all round.

Done, although I fear those of us with postcodes outside SE7 may carry little weight with Greenwich Council.
My postcode is TN34, I signed it because back in the 90s I used to ride up (from Hastings) to the valley with my wife and we parked our motorbike in Harvey Gardens, for free and no aggro. No idea if you can do that these days, I suspect not. Slightly off topic but I've been reading a lot about various London Councils, esp. Camden council, bringing in charges for motorbike parking, when it was free before, some of the proposed fees appear to hideous.

Tooting Red Army - As a cyclist, user of public transport & car driver, Greenwich councils intentions are publicily for a greener and cleaner air transport policy but also they can't say its to raise extra revenue. I drive over and park in the streets around The Valley mainly to avoid the chaos at Charlton station after the match. Trains to London Bridge often packed and gates to station closed, so I can drive & be back home well before I would if I take train and tube etc. Having lived in a street where I never had any problem ever parking directly outside my house, Wandswoth council despite everyone objecting imposed a paid resident parking and visitors pay at meter in the road or app. They get £480 of me for two permits for our cars, I get it its a way for boroughs to bring money in as they are underfunded. Greenwich will be eyeing up the revenue from paid parking through the borough, they just can't say it, local government funding has been seriously affected by last Goverment 14yrs of neglet, its not just last 12 months.
Living in Blackheath I constantly see streams of traffic with cars with one or maybe two occupants.
We all know that supply and demand drive economics.
So let’s imagine a world where cars are in the minority and as a result public transport is plentiful and fully utilised.
Traffic is reduced, transport times are quicker and parking becomes a non-issue.
I agree a world with less cars would be fantastic …it makes no sense that most of times our cars are just parked doing nothing…one day in a Utopian future we may have electric or hydrogen or water fueled cars which we share …a future zip : Uber driverless car, which just get us to A to B without the stress & hassle of get it fixed when it breaks down …till then we live in a world of 20mph, parking zones & too many cars clogging streets and roads …one day people will talk about time they queued up to put liquid in a tank to drive and the fuel was killing our planet …friends in San Francisco love driverless Uber car…till then I’m driving my car !

This is sooner than many might think... and we should embrace it. Rejecting it out of fear of change is an understandable default position for many but we do need to change.
Signed this, Greenwich Council has had some strange policies, and I was born in the borough, and worked in it. My parents were labour supporters, but I do not support this, It seems to discriminate against Charlton fans in an unfair way, especially to fans living outside the borough these days, like myself.

Agreed, It makes no sense that every street is packed with parked cars, how many hrs do most people actually drive? If there were communal driverless affordable cars to rent this would help solve so many problems from parking, speeding, reducing accidents....friends in San Francisco are full of priase for using Uber Driverless cars. Of course people want their independence which owning a car gives but if there was an affordable alternative with a range of car choices it may just work? Lime Bikes are a good example of communal transport, clearly hugely successful, around Clapham, Balham, Tooting, Lime Bike use is prolific. It makes sense as alot of GenZ's live in flats so don't have a secure space to store a bicycle, don't own cars. Lime Bikes are alot cheaper than an uber, taxi and quick to get from A to B. What will slow this.....is of course car industry and Oil industry who don't want it, billions made despite its impact on the planet..... A driverless car revolution in London is probably 15yrs off....who knows?

Not every street is packed with parked cars and even if they are, what is the issue if they are parked within a designated parking space? As a driver if you can't drive along a road with cars parked up bumper to bumper then you won't pass a driving a test and get onto the road anyway or if you have passed it then you should turn in your driving licence back to the DVLA.
Again, it is looking for solutions to problems where the problems don't exist in the first place.
It’s about a bigger picture. The problem is gradually increasing. The number of cars on the road is increasing annually. At what point do we wake up and realise that the roads are full?
I agree it’s easy money for local councils now but that’s just the world we live in today.
Let’s think a bit longer term and try and restore the transport infrastructure we once had (before we sold it) and try and build it out for a better future.

This is obviously nothing to do with helping the community, and simply a way to make money.

Greenwich says it will bring in “an accelerated programme of CPZ expansion borough-wide, with the intention of borough-wide CPZ controls to help control and manage car ownership”.
