on the petition its not clear what is being proposed? so is it to charge on a parking APP on the roads around the Valley which have 2hr free parking? I have parked close to valley on these 2 hr free spots and never had a ticket

In my opinion it’s to stop them extending the parking restrictions to the whole of Charlton, not just the ones they have in place at present: I don’t see those currently in place being binned off.
Sadly the club and other groups were slow at the time to react to this coming in when it was highlighted back in 2022.
With regards to Parking tickets from the Watford game it would appear the wardens are now increasing their numbers on a matchday..
To my knowledge no new restrictions have been put in place in areas siince the end of last season
Appears people are using other alternatives like the parking at IKEA and the school opposite the White Horse, or getting to the area much earlier to park up in streets without the threat of getting a ticket

Restricted parking all over the Borough, bar Plumstead and Shooters Hill.
Greenwich residents should make their feelings known on here.

Its not clear on that link? will it mean change to free 2hrs or will you have to pay as you do in most London boroughs for street parking?
The whole plan is deliberately unclear in my opinion, to discourage any understanding and action. My assumption is as Shirty says above.
Existing arrangements may remain the same but everywhere that is currently free will be charged through apps, or made residents only or yellow lined etc.
This will negatively effect our club and all supporters whether they use car, trains or buses.

The present 2hrs parking for free is fine, you will be extremely unfortunate ever to get a PCN ticket there simply aren't enough traffic wardens to photo cars and then return to check if you park @ 2-2.30pm its fine I never have a problem..... I can't see council putting in paid parking up by roads near Charlton house which are currently free, if they do its because the council wanted to earn more money by charging residents for permits and visitors on apps or meters. If decison has been made then the council will go ahead.

I believe you've been saying for a while the 2 hour limit is fine. Perhaps you've not seen all the ticketed cars around the ground, nor read the posts about fans getting a ticket.
The council are proposing paid parking, parking permits and more yellow lines (perhaps read the plan before commenting)?
Yes, of course it's because the council want to earn more money from residents and visitors.
They made the decision for Plumstead and Shooters Hill but the objections got it over turned.
Greenwich Council's imminent proposed parking restrictions in Charlton and across the borough, will either directly or indirectly negatively effect the majority of Charlton fans and most definitely the club we support.
If you drive to the games you will have even more severely restricted parking opportunities.
If you can find a place to park it is most likely that you will have the cost and inconvenience of having to pay on an app to park.
If you come by train, you will find the trains becoming increasingly more packed as people are forced from their cars.
If you come by bus you will also see the buses more crowded.
If you are fit and able to use public transport now, try and think forward to what position you might find yourself in in future years.
Cars are more eco friendly than they have ever been and I assume will become increasingly more eco friendly.
This is simply a cash grab at the expense of residents, businesses, football fans et al.
Please sign the petition if you want your club to thrive at The Valley and share the petition with as many as possible. Thanks.

I do maintain that if like me you park @ 30mins before KO your chances of get a ticket are slight, and yes I've seen a few tickets and wardens but its a risk IMHO worth taking.... I can't see plans... where is the link? if Plumstead & Shooters Hill were overturned by objections, thats great I'm not advocating not signing the petition just saying current 2hr free parking is fine if you park close to KO

The current plans will most likely not alter the already implemented restrictions. They will effect every other road in Charlton (and the whole borough) that have so far escaped the extra restrictions.
Here is the plan but as I said it is not reader friendly and that is being extremely polite. Quite frankly I doubt many would work their way through it and fully understand it in the free time they would be willing to spend on it. https://sustainable-streets-rbg.commonplace.is/
have signed and suitably vague, when you finally find what is proposed
My Charlton Sustainable Streets:
Earlier this year, we wrote to residents and businesses in the Charlton area to ask you what you thought were the local traffic and parking issues in your area and what would make your street more sustainable.
We received a large amount of valuable information and have used this insight to inform the designs of what a Sustainable Street could look like in your area.
Residents in your area told us that:
Parking congestion and road safety issues are widespread, creating daily challenges.
They would like to cycle but don’t due to concerns over safety, limited infrastructure, and lack of secure storage.
They are interested in electric vehicles though affordability, charging access, and range limitations continue to hold many back from making the switch.
Therefore, in your area we are proposing:
Parking permits and pay and display bays will be proposed on various roads

Plus, more trees, safer road crossings, and more
and on matchdays its no problem to park .......
