Kaheim Dixon - on a season long loan to Crawley (p25)

Based on those highlights it definitely backs up the claims that we bought for illegal reasons rather than potential talent.16

Play like that all season he'll be bumped to League 1 by January, they absolutely shat themselves every time he got on the ball.
I like that some of the highlights were him winning the ball in his own half too, the kind of thing NJ will notice more than a mazy dribble past 2 clogging defenders15 -
No, that was the amount you had to put on your credit card!Braziliance said:I have nothing to add, I just saw this ad on this page and took an IQ test, 131. Nice.

There's definitely a lovable charm about KD, where ever he ends up il be following his career with intrigue and hoping he has a successful one, at whatever level he finds himself.7

I predict that Dixon will not start a league game for us.

Maybe if we have clinched promotion with four games to go, we might give him a run?ElfsborgAddick said:I predict that Dixon will not start a league game for us.1 -
I personally think he does have the talent for a first team future with us. Time will tell6
-
Dixon is twenty, so people are judging him as a twenty-year-old. Sounds logical. But we should be judging him as an 18-year old in football years, because he has not been through a quality professional coaching regime since he was 6 or 7, like most of our others have. He has so many areas for improvement open to him. If he does not get there until he is 22 instead of the usually required 21, so what? I don't suppose he costs us that much to keep around. We need to allow him more slack than others. That is not favouritism, it's good business.18

There's plenty of raw, undeveloped talent in the region.Leuth said:
From inferior stock? Good lord Charlie, that wasn't the bally mission old boy!Ferryman said:
Charlie boy has also been in touch with other Football Ferderations in the Caribbean region about youth development / transfers.Exiled_Addick said:
No, but I would be surprised if it wasn’t Methven who really championed that deal and I doubt NJ would’ve been pursuing him otherwise. It would potentially help drive future interest in European clubs bringing over young players from Jamaica, such as those in the Mount Pleasant academy, if Dixon were to do well here and demonstrate that Jamaican talent can make the step up. That and we also hear our Jamaica inspired third kit was Charlie Boy’s idea and was even, possibly, intended to be our second strip.Ferryman said:
But Dixon wasn't signed from Mount Pleasant.Exiled_Addick said:
I suspect he's suggesting a certain former director with links to both CAFC and the academy in Jamaica might have a had a vested interest in getting young Kaheim over to Europe, which might have potentially clouded judgement on his ability and readiness for such a move, somewhat.AddicksAddict said:
You can’t just drop that in without some explanation of what you mean.Airman Brown said:No reflection on the player but the original transfer might bear some investigation.
I’m just speculating on what Airman may be driving at, is all. But I also doubt Charlie’s nan was from Kingston so his sudden love for the Reggae Boyz probably extends beyond just having a really nice holiday there once.0 -

I agree with this. Wasn’t an NJ signing, won’t get a look in.ElfsborgAddick said:I predict that Dixon will not start a league game for us.1 -
Dixon is only 20.thenewbie said:
This is the Dixon dilemma in a nutshell. "Best player on the pitch, no-one could get near him" - BUT in League 2. He's clearly got bags of talent but he's perpetually playing catch up and I'm not sure if the stars will ever align in just the right way that we get to see him break through at Charlton - though I do hope to be wrong.nagAddick said:Crawley fans saying he was best player on the pitch when he was on.
He's progressing. Tore up the U21 league at times.
Now he's set to play regular senior competitive games.
It could well be the making of him.

Yeah, not like he was already a full Jamaican international or anything like that either - maybe his caps are dodgy as welcafc-4-life said:Based on those highlights it definitely backs up the claims that we bought for illegal reasons rather than potential talent.0 -
Quite simply, the club are doing the right thing with him, he will get game time and be looked after at Crawley, difficult to assess is his development from a fan viewpoint but I have every trust that the coaching staff are doing right by him.9

The truth is out there ....born in Bermondsey, rejected by Millwall and of Scottish descent.Callumcafc said:

Who knew ?

Nothing that I have heard about his transfer reflects on Dixon or his ability. Watching a local football podcast/vlog they were quite disparaging about him joining Charlton, feeling he should have gone straight to a higher level.Callumcafc said:

Today's NTT20 podcast gives him a rave review - around 1 hour 14 minutes in.Airman Brown said:

Exciting highlights package there, especially considering he didn't even play majority of the game.Great to see he wasn't just looking to go on mazy runs in oppositions half, but on numerous occasions was the one battling to win the ball back near his own box.0

Another way to look at it though is that if there was a 20 year old kid tearing it up in league two, then he's exactly the sort of player you'd expect a Championship club to be looking at signing.thenewbie said:

My guess (no more than that) is that maybe Chrlie boy set something up so that he personallybwould benefit financially from the deal if it paid off. Or maybe any future deals from the link up.11

Looking at that highlight reel what’s not to like ? Hopefully he has a stormer this season and is back with us next season ripping it up11
-
Well that wouldnt be something which one would have to question if it was illegal, it clearly is. Airman brown in his previous riddle said he didnt know if what he heard (which we still dont know) was illegal, any thats so obtusely illegal it wouldnt even be questionable its literallly fraud, embezzlement, or breach of fiduciary duty depending on jurisdiction. Assuming of course club funds were used for purchase. Also we would need to know exactly how the said party would benefit ie image rights, sell on etc.cantersaddick said:My guess (no more than that) is that maybe Chrlie boy set something up so that he personallybwould benefit financially from the deal if it paid off. I don't understand how his ability isn't being questioned, but the level he signed for is.Airman Brown said:

That's a stupendous highlight reel, especially given he came off the bench.2
-
Lets hope he gets more minutes tonight1

I doubt he will ever break into our team just doesn’t seem like a Nathan Jones type of player and not sure if he quite reaches the level, gives an Elewere/Barker/Wiredu kind of vibe someone who almost made it but not quite there. But good opportunity to make a healthy profit on a player who clearly has a lot of potential and cost us peanuts2
