  • I've never had trouble getting into the ground well after kickoff, there's always a turnstile open or someone to let you in.
  • I think the turnstiles stay open for most of the first half. After that, you need to get permission from stewards/police/main office.

Going back a few years, I was delayed on a train coming back from Kettering, and got to the evening game at 9pm! Walked into the already open gates and watched the last ten minutes.  Missed all the goals from a 2-2 draw I think...

Am assuming you were on a run of games not missed, this game still counts as you saw part of the game.
  • Take this with a pinch of salt due to the amount of time that has passed, but when I worked on the turnstiles in the 90s, one turnstile in each set (this being pre the rebuilds of the north and west, so North, Away, West, East Harvey Gardens and East Batram gate) was kept open until half time, with the rest closing 10-15 minutes into the game.

As we were allowed free entry if there were seats available (so I generally only had to purchase 4 tickets a season at that time), you always prayed that one of the non-Charlton fans who worked the turnstiles was selected (or volunteered) for the late shift.
  • I used to do that for same reason , including as late as after half time. Never had an issue and never had to ask the club to prep for it. This was 10 years ago(in the championship)
