  • Interesting to read how the Watford fans viewed Josh Edwards and his performance on Saturday. I also thought he was immense in shackling dangerman Baah - who started brightly but then up against Edwards seemed to lose confidence as the game wore on.

It's fine margins though. Baah did him one time and got behind him. If that had resulted in a goal then the praise would have turned to criticism.

    Whoever scouted Edwards fair play.
Recruitment, bar Ahadme, took a turn for the better in January 2024.
Ramsay and Edwards for less than 500k is daylight robbery. Theyve got to be worth over 5 mill between them now
Mate if we sold Ramsay for less than that we would be mugs imo
  • Believe when we first trialled this formation it was said the wing-back position was the most crucial.

Edwards and now Apter are both fantastic.
  • It is fine margins and before substituting him I was surprised the Watford manager did not move Baah over to the other flank for an extended time to see if that worked. The histrionics from Baah just before half time also seemed to affect him just as much as coming up against Edwards.

Those two, Small and Ramsay have been very much modern day version of Jack Stacey / James Justin from when Jones was in charge of Luton - Both were key in that team, both of whom have gone on to have very good careers.
  • Super competitor. So combative. Wins nearly all his battles.
Would go toe to toe with anyone I should think.
Great around the dressing room as well.
Yes. There will definitely be suitors.

Has to be said that if the worst criticism that can be made is that a decent winger got the better of him one time then that speaks to a pretty successful game frankly.

He'll have sterner tests and I'm sure there are/will be players in this league who genuinely do get the better of him but overall he's been absolutely outstanding.

  • A very good player, but also such a likeable one. You can imagine him being great in the dressing room, keeping everyone's spirits up, which will be important this season as there will be tough defeats and losing runs, in between the positive results.

won't be many tbh. Baah is pretty quick, both footed, very strong and is very skillful, the fact Edwards came out ok bodes well, I was worried for him as that was his first real acid test.

I can't turn off the italic writing, but it's fitting for Josh.
  • I sat next to Josh Edwards Dad, brother and former football coach at Preston away in the cup, you could see that they had very high standards and if there was a stray pass from him they were not pleased. Looks like he has had it drilled into him from a young age.

They will be delighted we are up as Boro was the closest ground they wanted to get too.
  • I love Josh.

I particularly enjoy the difference between his on field and off field persona. All the videos of him from around the place, Wembley, training ground  pre season etc. He seems like great fun, proper laugh to be around and doesn't take himself too seriously.

On Saturday sat in the east stand I got an up close view of his on pitch persona. The angry Scottish bloke with a bit of "feck you, you fecking bastard" about him. Love it!
  • Edwards was on the pitch with the squad walking over to the away fans at the end of the match - looked fine.
Great to hear. He’s vital to our balance ahead of next weekend

  • I think he’s my favourite player overall. Gives absolutely everything and always a solid 8/10 performance.
  • When Josh got up off the turf he looked ready to continue but we'd already subbed him off. Sure he's fine.
  • Pretty sure on the comms they said he looked visably unhappy at being subbed off
  • He went down to buy a bit of time to organise for the foul and his acting was so good it got him taken off!
  • It looked nasty on the TV, probably mm's away from being a serious long term injury. It was encouraging to see him walking around on the pitch after, without an ice pack.
Hopefully he/we, got away with it.
Fantastic player, strong as an ox and equally as committed.
  • I wonder if he got subbed off, partly as a precaution, and partly because he wouldn't have been able to take the throw in (what with the 30sec rule). Meaning that we'd have had less players in their box, and also would have been at risk of a counter attack late on
  • It’s so refreshing that I want to say he’s my favourite player but there are also so many other contenders for this throughout the team! He is a cracking find though! I love what NJ is building here.
  • Hopefully we see him this Saturday unscathed from jarring his knee at Ashton Gate. But as reported he joined the team after the match was finished which is a great sign.. just hope he'll be back in training this week and fully fit for Leicester.

He looked fine at the time.
He was ready to come back on when they subbed him.
I was about 20 yards away.

It was good to see that Bell also has a good long throw in him.
