    What was the Knibbs song?

Apparently the old KC&Sunshine Band hit, "that's the way - I like it" and not an original, but then few are.

    Kerman did a great shift
Robby Apter and Ramsey beat players on the pitch
How many have you had 🤣
Just read it back sober 😂

Kaminski - On the face of it didn't have a huge amount to do but what he had to do he did very well

Ramsay - Our MOTM. Unreal in and out of possession, gem of a player

Jones - Showing that he's more than good enough in this division. Such a threat in opposition box

Bell - A steady head at the back that adds the physicality Mac doesn't have

Apter - Promising start from the young lad. Classy with the ball, a pitbull without it

Carey - links up well with Apter, always looking to go forward with the ball

Coventry - some great diagonals and recovered well a few times when we were short at the back

Docherty - felt like the game passed him by again. He's ok when out of possession but what does he do on the rare occasions he has the ball?

Edwards - quite game for Josh

TC - gave us that outlet that Kelman didn't. Quietly making the step up well

Kelman - finding his feet for sure. Would like to see a bit more physicality from him

    Subs

Leaburn - gave us a presence up top we were missing

Knibbs - didn't have enough time to impact

Olaofe - a great swap option for TC. Gives us the same work rate and is strong on the ball

When you are looking 10th to 12th, then it isn't such a jump to look at 6th. But it is right, a lot depends on key players staying fit.

Over 46 games I would say it's quite a jump from 12th to sixth and what a difference two games can make after most of us said the first season is all about staying up and 15th to 19th would be fine.

I said 17th if Ramsay, Jones, Knibbs, Apter etc stay fit.
I went out on a limb and said Rob Apter would be our most important attacking option for assists and he should've had at least two assists in his 1st match and came close to scoring himself in both league matches so far.

I still think it's best to see where we are  10 games in and after defeats as one thing I have learnt after 11 years on CL is supreme confidence soon becomes the polar opposite with negative pile ons with a defeat where at least one player is picked out for blame.

Just the realisation already that we can compete at this level gives great satisfaction.

Yes, my point is that we have realised we can compete so more than competing isn't out of the question. Doesn't mean it is a certainty but I don't think we should be writing it off. Personally, I'm trying to see a better defence than ours at this level. Anybody got any ideas which defence that might be?

Some pundits were going overboard about city before the game when they thrashed a team that couldn't defend for toffee. I think we are strong favourites to beat Leicester on Saturday but it is going to take a few games for some of these pundits to catch up.
  •  I've been thinking a lot about the 19-20 season,

In the first half, we lost first JFC (playing left back) and then Sam Field, a very good Championship player ever since, to injuries which kept them out for months (both, bizarrely, shoulder injuries if I recall)
    Both dislocations.
    Talk about bad luck.
“ In the context of a single Championship match, the odds of two players dislocating a shoulder are extremely low—on the order of a few occurrences per 100,000 matches (roughly 0.0015% to 0.005%).”

    Assumed Match Dislocation Rate (λ)

    Approximate Probability of 2 Dislocations

    0.55% (λ = 0.0055)

    0.0015% (≈ 1.5 in 100,000)

    0.91% (λ = 0.0091)

    0.0041% (≈ 4 in 100,000)

    1.0% (λ = 0.01)

    0.005% (≈ 5 in 100,000)

Was that season the unluckiest in Charlton’s history, bearing in mind losing Gallagher, the injuries, Taylor refusing to play, and the events of the final day (including the result at Brentford)?

  • I thought Docherty was absolutely fine. He won a lot of second balls and he’s a very intelligent player, plus he’s a fucking quality captain.
Saw a few comments on the BC forum praising his work off the ball to disrupt them, thought he did well
  • This "We hate Jones" stuff is really weird, but keep on doing what you're doing Nathan, fine with me...
Have we played against a Jones team and whatvwas our fans view at that time?

And the many late goals conceded that if even one had been kept out the extra point would have kept us up. Notably the away games at Bristol City, Birmingham and Sheff Wed.

He’s definitely better off the ball than on it. Winning second balls in what I really noticed with him yesterday and things like that will probably keep him in the team for now.

I can see him losing his place in time, but JRC or Anderson will need to offer what Doc does defensively for it to happen under NJ. They’re not going to take his place just by potentially offering more on the ball and in attack.

I think a midfield with both Knibbs and Carey is even less likely, it’s useful having one to come off the bench, and this team is built around being strong defensively, rather than around creating loads of chances or dominating possession.
    Agee with all of this.

Having multiple options in most positions on the pitch is such a step up from what we’ve seen before.

For me it’s less about who starts instead of who and more, we have him to play if he gets injured, and vice versa. Very few have a nailed on starting spot in this team at the moment. And that’s a really good thing

We definitely play at a very high tempo so all of our players are going to need a rest and recovery out of the team from time to time. Jones has a squad where we’re able to do that without too much disruption. At this point I still don’t think Nathan has worked out exactly who his “first eleven” are. Knibbs and Olaofe for example haven’t come to regularly play off the bench. At some point both will need integrating into the starting line up. Having said that, none of the current starters deserve to be dropped. What a great position we’re in for the first time in donkeys.

I'd like to see Kelman paired with Olaofe and Leaburn and TC off the bench. We don't have the mix right and stats seem to support that.

We need the ball to stick up top more.

I don’t think either of the two new boys are quite up to speed yet with what’s required by Jones. Less so for Olaofe because he’s that type of player but probably not 100% Jones fit in either case.
  • Not to P on the party but it’s sad how far we have fallen that we are happy with a drew at Bristol!
We are the bigger club despite they being the main club in a 2 club city.
Good for the boys to build us back to the Premier league in time !

I'd be happy with Drew anywhere mate...🙄

    What, even Drew Peacock!

Olaofe had an extra two weeks to his season and has been with us for six weeks.  I can't imagine he is not ready to start.

Kelman has had longer so that doesn’t add up. Personally would like to see Tanto/Leaburn start with TC next week

Perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself but we are asking a lot more from most of the players now we are in the championship and I don't feel he's showing that yet. Look at Coventry yesterday who's normally the deeper of the midfielders he was all over the pitch and actually having an influence on the game. Long diagonal balls into Apter, one twos on the edge of their box with TC, covering in defence when we got hit on the counter. Yes Doc's work rate is top draw and he does win a fair amount of second balls BUT at this level we need more than that from him. I'd imagine when Knibbs or JRC are fully fit Doc will drop to the bench unless his performances pick up

Kelman signed 25 days after Tanto?

Every Lol deserved, if you think spending eleven years since 2009 in League one makes us a bigger club you are on the wrong meds.
