I think we edged it.
They started well but looked shell shocked when our pressing game kicked in. Campbell ran his socks off today. When him ,Carey Apter and Kelman really know each others game they will be a daunting prospect for any back line.
Mention for Doch. Thought his experience really shone through today.
I love Gilesphey, but you can see why he's opted for Bell. His athleticism almost matches Ramsay's.........Almost!
Overall a cracking display.21 -
I said when we signed Apter he would be a premier League player in a few years7

I always was, because of the fanbase and how we’ve stuck together the last 15 years. But now I can say it’s also because of the team.
I never saw the ‘90s climb with Kinsella, Rufus, Robbo & co. (my earliest memories are the Prem seasons) but I must imagine it felt like this.8 -

This is my 61st season. I've seen relegation sides and promotion teams. I know it's early days, but this group of players - and the manager -(barring wholesale injuries) has all the makings of falling into the latter category.15

Exciting match despite the boring scoreline. I never knew Bristol on a sunny afternoon would be so lovely, specially with a point away in the Championship.
A couple of B. City fans already chatted to me and said it was a fair result, I agreed.
Good cider. Actually no, excellent cider!
On the Kelman question, he is not going to score with crosses from wingers. He needs the ball to feet somewhere around the D. If he makes himself a bit more available and we go more through the middle, he should be able to score.

Edwards is a bit of a worry. Landed awkwardly with his boot catching in the turf. Hope his knee isn’t damaged10

As 0-0 draws go, that was very watchable. Every one of our players did a job and largely restricted Brizzle to shots from outside the box. I thought we carried TC and Doc last week but both were much improved. The defence looked impregnable. I think we carried the bigger threat and as the game went on, we got stronger. Tanto looks an absolute beast and could’ve come on earlier but I’m not sure who he would’ve replaced. If we can keep up this form, a top-half finish is a distinct possibility. Onto Leicester next week .. UTA4

Feel a bit sorry for Gillesphey going from Wembley goal scorer to sitting on the bench but has to be said Bell has slotted very nicely into that defence, as a unit they look superb and Kaminski remains solid, and I don’t recall any worrisome parties into the danger zone this time.
If this is us still getting used to the Championship, we're going to bloody a fair few noses once we actually get going.4 -
Thought it was a great performance against a team full of confidence. Ultimately we edged it.0

Living in Bristol with a City supporting daughter, I watched City maybe a dozen times last season - and they finished 6th. They were never good, but they are a stable and reliable team that grinds out enough points most seasons to finish top half.
So, Charlton's performance today, against the absolute benchmark of Championship stability has to be read as nothing but an incredibly positive signal. And there's more to come, as we know there's strength on the bench, and one or two players finding their feet. I've seen City get frustrated and the faithful fretting quietly, and the Addix totally bossed it. We aren't going to control matches, but with that back four, Jones especially, and trickery from Apter and power and determination across the squad, we look very decent at this level.
And we have the fans and noise and passion to match. Excellent performance, all addix!
Lifted!

On the 18.00 from Bristol TM, absolutely buzzing!!! Thought we would nick it late on.
Not one below par performance.
Am backing Kelman to click in the next couple games. The support was amazing!!All the hurt of the last few years is slowly fading.

Are they HAPPY with mediocrity... Are THEY happy with not winning... There are no Guns firing from this corner of Cornwall on this Saturday evening, Charlton Athletic consider me EXTREMELY disappointed with todays result and performance.
Naaa how can I say such a thing... How could you be mad with the players after that effort and work rate, another 44-games like that and am very confident we'll be playing Championship Football next season, without ever really looking over our shoulders.
(Still no Battleship gif though... Thats reserved for WINNERS!!)2 -

Yes, maybe we can catch that super team Millwall...... Oh hang on a minute!0

Two clean sheets already, outstanding. It's Curbs-levels of defensive organisation, with the same amount of effort we came to expect under him. NJ is proving himself to be a brilliant manager and our recruitment looks strong. Our two centre mids are yet to make the step up, IMO. Coventry might have spent the summer putting on some muscle, he looks tiny compared to the average Champ midfielder. Doch grew into the game in the second half but is still showing more poor touches than good. Neither are lacking in effort, but I'm not sure either offer the quality and composure we need at this level long-term.
I feel like the team that finishes our games is stronger than the one that starts. Olaofe looks excellent and so does Knibbs. I hope we see them starting sooner rather than later. We've started well but there seems so much more potential in this squad that's not being 100% utilised yet.
I know Kelman will get bashed again, but I thought he did well. He won some good flicks and held the ball up when it was asked of him. He was isolated, I'm not sure he could've done much more.
Utterly delighted with our start so far.4 -

Not sure it carried across on the TV, but our fans were immense. As it has been for almost every away the last couple of years. Non stop singing from 2.45 to the end.Ashton Gate used to be a really atmospheric ground. No idea what’s happened to their support as they have a decent team. It felt like a home game at times.23

Watched on the stream. Could hear the Charlton fans through the whole game.
It feels great to be a Charlton fan again 😌15 -
