  • After a very quick scan of a Bristol fans forum I think they were generally impressed with us and actually quite complimentary.
Can you put the site details on please.

Two sides fought bloody hard out there this afternoon and in clichéd language, they left it all on the pitch. So much so that both ours and their players dropped to the floor on full-time whistle. Nobody had a bad game from either side. Despite the lack of goals, the effort was immense. Maybe a slight lack in final ball, but both defences brought their A-game today.

Very pleased with a point. If anyone has Jones post match views, please share.

Outstanding. We are looking proper championship. So happy with that performance. We are going to improve as well. Roll on Leicester next week. It's alright this league!

Brilliant team effort - Ramsey, Jones, Bell and Apter were impressive, but I do wonder what Docherty adds to our team. I think it’s a mistake to make him captain, as he is one of our weaker players.

However a huge congrats to Nathan and the team to make us so difficult to beat and of we play like that, we should have no fears about this league.

    Well done and COYRs!!

Fantastic performance . First ten minutes was very nervy but we were the better side in the second half and could have won.  The injury to Edwards looked horrible and i fear he'll be out for a while . His knee jarred as his studs got caught in the grass. May have to dip into the market if it's long term.

What a tremendous team performance this afternoon !

IMO, Nathan has played a blinder in the close season. Unbelievably good signings - such foresight in recognising the latest recruits could add something else to the squad that gained promotion.

Not one of them looks out of place in the Championship - in fact I'll bet there are a few other managers out there in the same league kicking themselves that they didn't manage to attract the creme de la creme ( that's Welsh for the dog's b*llocks) to strengthen their squads.

Our players & our Nathan !

    Our fantastic away fans !

    What a combination !! <3

Ramsey for them probably MOTM with how he tracked and marked Mehmeti"

Scouting priority for the Recruitment team has to be a replacement for Ramsay. Id be surprised if we let him go until next Summer, but would hate to be in a similar position with Gallagher, where we suffer because we lose one of our best players.

Dont think I've loved a back line so much since the days of Solly, Morrison, Cort and Wiggins... Even Bell has exceeded any expectations that I may have had about him.

Looking forward to the Leicester game already. Sounds like TC done well but would start either Tanto or Miles. Not cause Kelmans shit I should add but to maybe see if he can impact a game late on like the other lads who have probably earned a start.

It’s still a small sample, but this is so encouraging.
    Brizzle match thread:
  • Another really strong performance. I wonder if this is the best drilled team since the Curbs era? The communication in defence is excellent, with runners constantly being tracked. I think it’s helped by having a player of Ramsey’s calibre. I would go as far as saying he is our only irreplaceable player (with Lloyd jones a close second).

I do worry about Campbell and Docherty. It’s clear that neither is good enough for this level. Can’t fault their work rate, but they’re going to cost us a game soon. Campbell gives the ball away cheaply too often, and Doherty is mind numbingly predictable. With the ball on the deck, it’s either sideways, backwards or wayward. With the ball in the air it’s a “back to goal swipe and hope”. I’d love to see a player in there who can help us transition from defence to attack, Docherty doesn’t have the ability to do that.

So nice being in the Championship and being happy with a draw, a 0-0 last season and my evening was ruined but now I’m over the moon

The two results so far prove that this squad is good enough. Take into account how short our pre-season has been and still have players short of match fitness.

So it's not just our supporters.  Other clubs can't spell his name either  :D

That was one of Doc best games for us , him and Coventry broke up a lot of Bristol moves and made Vital challenges …

Do well in L1 and you get a so so transfer fee, especially as a defender or engine room player.

Do well in the Championship,  and the fee rockets.

In regards to docherty, there seems a real split in opinion looking at the player marks, I feel he doesn't offer enough with the ball, but defensively holds the team together in the middle. Would like to see more of JRC in his position.

Christ, they can't spell his name either. At this point we're going to keep Ramsay forever because opposing scouts can't bloody find him

I won't be surprised if Docherty looks a better player in the Championship, because he has to scrap more. Teams sitting back against us in League One, possibly put him in a position where he had to play to a slightly different style.

Also want to shout out the referee... Was disappointed for him (genuinely), as thought for the most part he had a good game, but second half there were about four silly FKs that players on both teams (Edwards am looking at you lol!) did well to convince him.

Can't blame them for getting Ramsay's name wrong, most of us struggle too

Yeah they'd all fail in a championship manager search.

    Superb performance that.

Started off looking like a long tough afternoon against a side that finished in the playoffs last year, but, we weathered the "storm" and had our moments going forward.

Jones and Ramsay got plenty off blocks in with the latter totally nullifying his man throughout.

Second half and it started much the same but on and around 65mins, also around when Leaburn was introduced, we clearly got forward a lot more, Carey but Apter the standout in attack, some better final balls and finishing and we could have snatched it (as could they)

last 15 mins including stoppage and it was pretty much end to end.

Ramsay or Apter for MOM, far too close to call.

Looking at our mini table of who we really should be aiming to finish above:

    7. Preston  4
    8. Charlton 4
    12. Portsmouth 3
    17. Hull 1
    19. Oxford 0
    20. Wrexham 0
    22. Derby 0
    23. Sheff
    Wednesday 0

Yes, its only 2 games played, but the sooner we distance ourselves and pick up the points before teams "hit top form" the better.

Decent start to life back in the Champ, win at home against a solid Championship side, draw away at a playoff contender.
