It will be a real education for our young players.
I spent the duration of my time there getting inebriated. It was only one day though, visiting three former school band members who seemed to be there for reasons I've never been quite able to work out.
Mannion and Macca getting another 100 odd minutes can only be a good thing for two players that had top 2nd half to the 24/25. Season. Plus Fullah if he only gets cameo's in the Championship. I like this draw and the bigger teams can arrive later as long as the CAFC 16 perform at Cambridge.
It really isn't for our fringe players (so far) to get game time. Boring for some supporters isn't as important. So many players last night said they want to be included against Bristol City with their performance which can only be a positive.
Much prefer a Premier League side. We've all seen our record in this competition....no saying we wont lose to Cambridge anyway. Once again we miss out on playing West Ham. Only time we got to play them at the Olympic Stadium is was during Covid & no one could go !
Just realized i'm potentially away the midweek of the 3rd round on the dates when the top teams enter the cup which means we'll beat Cambridge and draw a top team at a ground i've not been to yet like Arsenal, Spurs or Newcastle away or vice versa a home game against one of those teams, there you go folks we're a cert to make it to round 3 now.

I hope it was just one day on the Lash or otherwise you would've needed to go to AA !
Why? Winnable game against league 2 opposition. Would have rather West Ham away or similar, but miles better than a Championship team home/away.
Played them about 50,000 times, we are never going to win the cup so I would rather a big away day or a new ground tick.
I of course understand if we win, we them get another chance, but typically speaking we very rarely get that glamour tie
The regional aspect of the draw is removed for the 3rd round and we have 9 more PL teams entering, so if we do get through there's a strong chance of a decent tie at that stage.
Of course we could get the winner of Accrington v Doncaster and shithouse our way to Wembley.

No offence but I so hate that attitude.
Sure it's unlikely we will ever win a cup but we sure as heck wont if we don't try. Simple fact is after the Cambridge game should we win, 3 good (or lucky) draws could see us in the semi-final. It's not impossible, particularly in this tournament when the big boys don't take it seriously until the semis.
This tie is eminently winnable. If both teams make changes, I'm confident our second string players will be much better than the Cambridge ones. Frankly, the Cambridge defence will have nightmares thinking of facing Leaburn and Olaofe.

And while we've been there too regularly in recent seasons, it is a reasonable away game with a decent train service.

All teams are making wholesale changes for this early round.
