Nathan Jones does have that old-skool, Brian Clough feel to him. Not say NJ is as good as Cloughie was in his hey day, but he is from the same breed. Although if NJ take us up to the Premier League and then wins the Champions League in the next 2-3 seasons, please show me this and say how wrong I was

It's not unexpected though. I bet myself before the game on Saturday that one of our new players would be labelled as 'dog shit' before half time. I was wrong! It took until the post match thread to see Kelman paid that highest of compliments.
Some fans think themselves better qualified to judge a player on seeing a handful of minutes than those charged with identifying and recruiting our targets. And we appear to have qualified experts on body language posting on here too.
The club could save a fortune if only it tapped onto the knowledge of these gifted supporters instead of relying on professionals 😂
Kelman will come good. Didn’t have a full pre season with us and Jones wouldn’t have committed such a hefty part of our budget unless he saw him adding significant returns, be it goals or what else he will bring. Give all these new players time. New team mates, new surroundings and only just getting their first competitive matches playing with one another. Look how integral Godden became in the second half of last season, particularly toward the end. Players find form at different points of the season
Tanto has got great feet.
Let’s hope we can carry the enthusiasm onto Bristol City. A much bigger test where we will have to be at our resolute best
In the same way that we got such fantastic value for money from last season's big money striker, Gassan "Goal Machine' Ahadme? Jones might very well THINK he can get good returns from Kelman, but that's not to say he's right.
Though being a bit less facetious I actually do think Kelman will be absolutely fine once he finds his groove and adjusts to how we play.
Ahadme was a mistake, but imo he’s the only signing since NJ took over that hasn’t worked out.

I think NJ has done a brilliant job. In the past, that kind of fixture was rubbish. We'd usually struggle against much worse opposition, lose, and then grumble about how gutless and utterly crap our players are. But yesterday looked like a walk in the park, even with a fully rotated team.
Third goal is going under the radar but it’s so good. Brilliant passing to move the opposition around, good movement out wide by Kanu, Berry pushes into the gap left by DK, the cross is then perfect as is the header. A well coached goal

Really pleased to see Anderson getting positive plaudits in this thread - I have long since thought that his stronger position would be naturally be deeper, and not as a 10. Necessity required him to play at 10 to disrupt / hold on to leads, and I think this was probably the best way to expose him to more games with less risk. He is definitely getting better with the simple passes that the deeper role needs, and honestly, I think performances like that will push him closer to stealing Doc's role in the team. He has an amazing engine, keeps going for 90+ minutes and is growing more every game.
And, as I like to remind people, still only 20 and already racking up a solid number of games.

I think his best position with be as an “8” destroyer or as a sub to press and win the ball back.

Also think he can learn from Knibbs the art of arriving into the box from deep to pinch a late goal here and there. Not just a case of just throwing yourself in, very much a timing thing.

We were well on top until their brought their big guns at which point we were under the cosh but still scored another before we let their player have a clear run at a cross to head home.

Miles did well as did Tanto but Jones was raging when he didn't shoot first time.
Knibbs impressed and we looked a weaker side when Berry came on despite Luke doing very well to head home a lovely Kanu cross.
JRC didn't look fit and not quite on it but Anderson was very good in a deeper role.
Rylah got into so many good position but his crossing, his strongest point in the U21s, often let him down but it was his low ball that Fullah converted. He really needs a loan.
A Mitchell must have a headache this morning after heading every ball. Z Mitchell and Gillesphy were good too.
Kelman again feeding on scraps but made one good move near the end. Would have like to have seen him alongside Leaburn or Tanto.
A comfortable enough win with a "rotated" team against lower league opposition. Boro, Ipswich, Blackburn, QPR are all wishing they could say the same this morning so don't knock it.
One of our midfield chaps has to be all over Twine like a bad rash on Saturday.

I would not be so quick to judge. Enslin started, scored, and played 74 minutes for the u-21s in the morning. How many of the other 31(?) players on the pitch had to do that? And he is only 19.
Considering many are now complaining that our squad is too big, I wonder why that was necessary. A last-minute withdrawal, I guess.
