  • Can’t believe we’re in the next round of the cup, with 11 of the big boys, and Wrexham.
  • Absolute hilarious flappy knee-jerk reactions regarding Kelman.

"The longer he goes without scoring goals the worse it will get" 97 minutes of football without a proper pre-season and off the back of playing 50+ games.

"Do our recruitment team not look at stats and heat maps?" He had more movement than Tanto & Godden on heat maps.

"Hopefully Kelman gets off the mark soon, he needs that confidence boost" 97 minutes of football. 22 of those with a second string side holding on to a lead partnered with an academy player who probably won't be making the bench in League games.

"Oof Kelman’s body language looks terrible I hope he doesn’t beat himself up he just needs time I think" surely this is satire?

Not to mention hearing people in person say Kelman has done nothing so far and they're not sure. Genuinely insane. It's actually fried my brain.
    So true.

Kelman will come good.  Didn’t have a full pre season with us and Jones wouldn’t have committed such a hefty part of our budget unless he saw him adding significant returns, be it goals or what else he will bring.  Give all these new players time.  New team mates, new surroundings and only just getting their first competitive matches playing with one another.  Look how integral Godden became in the second half of last season, particularly toward the end.  Players find form at different points of the season

    Tanto has got great feet.

Let’s hope we can carry the enthusiasm onto Bristol City.  A much bigger test where we will have to be at our resolute best
In the same way that we got such fantastic value for money from last season's big money striker, Gassan "Goal Machine' Ahadme? Jones might very well THINK he can get good returns from Kelman, but that's not to say he's right.

Though being a bit less facetious I actually do think Kelman will be absolutely fine once he finds his groove and adjusts to how we play.
Ahadme was a mistake, but imo he’s the only signing since NJ took over that hasn’t worked out.

hopefully Kelman proves us both right and I’m looking forward to seeing more of him

In fairness, This comment is right but the same goes for every striker. They just want to score goals and they more do, the more confident they are.

Whilst I wasnt the most excited by his signing, he does need time to bed in and get fitter and play more than 2 games before he can be judged.
  • Anderson looked good - only a low key game but he kept possession so much better which has been his weakness - I’d start Leaburn Saturday - Kelman will come good but think we need instant impact on Saturday, no passengers. Fullah looks a great prospect, not sure about Rylah on that performance and Gillesphey and Costello looked like the good solid players they are - Knibbs showed flashes as did Tanto who should also play a part Saturday - Mannion was solid as always

    I give you Allan Campbell.
I assume he meant more permanent / longer term signings, otherwise you can go full Lua Lua/ Potts / McIntyre mode

  • Defo give kelman another go on Saturday. Protect leaburn.

berry also looked ready! What a finish.

Anderson brings us the energy in midfield we need.
  • A good performance, our young lads once again did us proud,I am convinced, that as the season goes on,Anderson will be one of the first names on the team sheet, his work rate is never in doubt, but his ability on the ball is improving every time I see him play.We have a real diamond on our hands here.

A full reserve/not yet fully fit side against a weakened Stevenage team.

We were well on top until their brought their big guns at which point we were under the cosh but still scored another before we let their player have a clear run at a cross to head home.

    Some good performances.

Everyone will have noticed Fullah. Pleased to have been in the stadium when he scored his first goal. It won't be his last.

Miles did well as did Tanto but Jones was raging when he didn't shoot first time.

Knibbs impressed and we looked a weaker side when Berry came on despite Luke doing very well to head home a lovely Kanu cross.

JRC didn't look fit and not quite on it but Anderson was very good in a deeper role.

Rylah got into so many good position but his crossing, his strongest point in the U21s, often let him down but it was his low ball that Fullah converted.  He really needs a loan.

A Mitchell must have a headache this morning after heading every ball. Z Mitchell and Gillesphy were good too.

Kelman again feeding on scraps but made one good move near the end.  Would have like to have seen him alongside Leaburn or Tanto.

A comfortable enough win with a "rotated" team against lower league opposition.  Boro, Ipswich, Blackburn, QPR are all wishing they could say the same this morning so don't knock it.
Extraordinary result for Boro, seeing as Donny made 11 changes

    True
  • I've got a funny feeling that before this season is out Mannion may well get a run in the first team.

His taking of one cross last night bought back memories of his display at Wembley.

Yep but it was missing the infamous not required but good for time wasting hit the deck after catching routine .
He deffo went to go down a couple of times and just held himself realising it’s not that situation.

To be fair that as a stand alone comment isn't too bad, I just grouped it with the rest.

I was hoping Kelman would be on the end of our third and not Berry for instance. You always want to see strikers score. I don't think the bloke is lacking confidence though.

Would be tough getting tickets to that with their current restricted capacity
  • Just watched the highlights.

Outside of his talent and goals, Knibbs seems to be a lovely bloke.

Ran to make sure he was the first to celebrate with Miles and Fullah last night, and posted an Instagram story about each of them.

Seems he's settled in very quickly with the squad, which is impressive considering he was the last through the door.

You can tell Knibbs see himself as a leader, just watching him in the warm-up and how he played in the 1st half; he's not doesn't mind doing the simple things to help out the team. You can tell he's not all about the glory, which is why he often will be part of it. He feel like the sort of player you may barely see in game, then will pop up with a killer assist, or a winning goal :wink
  • The great thing is that, with the exception of Rylah who is still too raw, the rest of the starters last night are all in contention for first team places, and they played like it . I cannot remember when we have had this strength in depth. Some of Costello's passing was the best I have seen from a midfielder for years, although he is not yet match fit. Fullah looks v promising and should be kept around the first team squad.

I think the highlight of the evening was the system going down at the bar and everyone getting two free beers each.

Besides that, I thought Leaburn looked very sharp and it's the fittest I've seen him in a long time - I'd like to see him get at least 35 minutes on Saturday, if not start.

Tanto looked good and is a better passer/footballer than I gave him credit for, but you can see he's really not a natural finisher - I'd be surprised if he scored many this season, although I expect him to have a big impact over 46 league games.

Finally, Fullah looks a real prospect and I can see him being in the starting eleven towards the end of the season.
