If you ever need proof that some fans wouldn’t know a football if it hit them in the face, just take a stroll through the Godden and Ahadme threads. Sure, forums are for opinions, but forming one on a player who’s managed a whole one game for us? That’s a special kind of talent.
I actually think he was slightly unlucky that his shot was deflected wide last night. If that had crept in the corner, I doubt we'd be having this discussion again. He seems to get himself in the right areas, so appears to be instinctual.

My opinion was formed before we signed him, I’ve seen him play plenty of times for other clubs. Before we signed Kelman I said he’d be a good signing if we play him next to Leaburn/Godden and that he should be competing with TC and Olaofe for a running the channels and in behind striker role
I think he will definitely get better, but I think he will only do well if we change how we use him. He either needs someone like Leaburn, Godden or maybe Olaofe playing with him, or when he’s on the pitch every long ball needs to go in behind rather than to him
Where has this idea that Kelman must be alongside a big target man come from? Correct me if I’m wrong but from what I can see he played as a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 for Orient.
You don’t score the number he did playing in that role if you don’t have some ability to hold up the ball, play with your back to goal etc.
I know our styles are different but playing a similar role to Godden shouldn’t be completely alien to him.

We are more direct than orient, hence the comment above as playing over him for him to chase rather than than balls for him to win in the air
I’m certainly not judging him definitively as to how things will turn out for him with us but based on these 2 game I’ve seen, he seems a strange choice for Jones - I don’t see enough physicality but in NJ we trust - his body language, like Leaburn’s does look a bit down but I’m sure its being misinterpreted and it’s just the way they are - no probs and nobody will even notice that when they start firing

Where I am. I posted he looked ‘dog shit’ on Saturday which I’ll apologise for as some people still don’t understand I like to exaggerate when it comes to football and I was on the Guinness from 9am. I want the boy to do well, like we all do. happily sit in with the rest of the melts though.
Fwiw I think Leaburn has looked a different beast to the end of last season. Looks sharper and more powerful.

Orient in league 1 were a completely different footballing team to us in league 1, let alone how we are going to play in the championship. He doesn’t play back to goal or get involved with build up play
I’ve linked it before but this was from NTT20 ahead of the play off final and describes how different they are
Kelman can play as the focal point for a team playing the way Orient played. I’m not sure he can be for us in the championship though. That doesn’t mean he’s a bad signing or it’s not going to work, I just think we need to adapt to him slightly for it to work
Nobody was complaining about Godden's physicality when he was banging goals in, sure the conversation will slow down when Kelman does the same
That’s because Godden was a brilliant focal point winning duels and holding the ball up, so even if he didn’t score he was contributing well in that role. Kelman is a very different player to Godden
If Kelman isn’t scoring he should be able to contribute by running the channels and pressing but we aren’t using him in that way at the moment
Yeah, it was the division below, but given how Kelman's not had much of a pre-season, I'm not sweating at this point in time. He needs to get up to speed and we need to work out how to get the best out of him, but we're only 2 games in.
I thought that chance at the end was the potential that Kelman could show, and was probably a bit of proof that he needs the ball to feet a bit more, as was a lovely touch to flick it round the Centre-Back, rather than just continuing down the middle like I thought he would.
Thought the Stevenage player did really well to quickly recover to get the block in. If anything Charlie probably didn't enough on the ball to get more space around their man.
I'm not having this 'Kelman can't play alongside TC' stuff. Not for a second. Kelman was the sole striker for Orient with two wingers playing off him in a 4231 which is essentially what we are in possession. Kelman has hardly played, didn't have the best game against Watford but looked like he needed to build fitness so I'm sure there's more to come, but it's hilarious that people have somehow made that performance Campbell's fault. I thought Kelman showed a couple of moments last night that were encouraging. Scrapped a bit with a Stevenage player in our half, showed great feet out wide to win a free kick and latched onto a chance like a proper poaching striker. He'll get fitter, he'll work on his movement which so far seems to be the problem and no doubt he'll get better.
So far we've played two games and already there's people out for Kelman, TC and Docherty. I don't understand the need to always have a problem that needs worrying about, just enjoy the football.
I cannot get why our fans are whining about Kelman ? He will need time amd service, which have both been lacking. In my view, he probably needs a strike partner [Leaburn or Tanto] and he will need better service. He looks a good player, so lets get behind him !

He’s just undercooked from a long transfer saga and coming with the (unfair) tag that he couldn’t hack it at this level before, get fitter and sharper and he’ll be fine
I was sitting in the rear section to the left of the directors box last night. Somewhere not far behind me was a man with a loud voice who stuck out because of his lone, rather embarrassing effing and blinding. His especial vitriol was aimed at Charlie Kelman who apparently was a lazy useless (unt, and effing this, and a useless effing that. Those around me exchanged the eye rolling expressions of discomfort regarding this man, there were young kids around us. I wish his abuse could’ve been less sweary and more creative and poetic rather than discomforting for those nearby.
Kelman is a between the sticks striker, don’t expect him to be spinning channels etc. He’ll likely be up to speed by the end of the month, needs a little leeway having no preseason match minutes.
He’ll also score goals regardless who he’s alongside up top.
Would echo absolutely that CK needs minutes, get more comfortable in the role NJ wants him to play and all that stuff........ for me some of it is the team also need to get better about how best to feed Charlie to give him the best chance of keeping the ball or going past defenders....... it'll come.
Gassan stank up the pitch in the 1000 odd minutes he played, could only scored against a non-League side and a pants goal Vs. Shrewsbury. Gets a few goals in pre-season against the same non-league side and people were seriously suggesting he should get a chance.
Kelman the golden boot winner from last season with 25 goals or whatever it is to his name has played less than 100 minutes of football, and people are trying to make a judgment call already.
Suppose if Knibbs didn't score his late winner there would be people questioning him as well.

Just like Sheff Utd, he'll come good!

We seem to have more fan attempts at being Nostradamus than actual supportive fans!
