Good evening one and all..
After the euphoria of Saturdays incredible last minute winner against Watford, tonight we return to The Valley for this R1 Carabao Cup match with Stevenage being the visitors.
Tonight we should see a slightly different side with some notable changes to the one that started, and indeed finished the Watford match, but with another important match next Saturday away at Bristol City, we need to stay fresh, I can see Mannion, Macca, & The Mitchells, (sounds like an episode of Eastenders 😉) making up the backline, with Knibbs and Kelman retaining their places, we will be without Reece Burke and Matty Godden, apart from that?...
Stevenage currently sit 5th in the League One table after an encouraging first two matches of their season resulted in wins, and will provide a test to our resolve, and we will need to be at our game clearly, so a strong(ish) bench will be needed, but at the same time whoever we put out tonight we should be more than capable of progressing into R2.
We've met on eight previous occasions, winning three, Boro two and the remaining three encounters resulting in draws, we ran out 2-0 victors when we last met at The Valley back in February, thanks to goals from Matty Godden and Luke Berry.
Team...
Zach Mitchell, Alex Mitchell and skipper Macaulay Gillesphey will start in a back three in front of Will Mannion.
Henry Rylah and Fullah will operate as wing-backs, with Karoy Anderson joining Knibbs and Rankin-Costello in midfield.
Olaofe is partnered up front by Miles Leaburn.
The Addicks' bench is made up of Ashley Maynard-Brewer, Josh Laqeretabua, Greg Docherty, Luke Berry, Alan Mwamba, Rob Apter, Kai Enslin, Charlie Kelman and Daniel Kanu.
Charlton: Mannion; Z.Mitchell, A.Mitchell, Gillesphey (c); Rylah, Knibbs, Rankin-Costello, Anderson, Fullah; Olaofe, Leaburn
Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Laqeretabua, Docherty, Mwamba, Berry, Apter, Enslin, Kelman, Kanu
Comments
Not a favourite of ours this competition but you never know if a cup run could be on the offering this season
...Least I got ya a few LOL's...🤦♂️
I doubt any team in the country of our standing can "better" that.
All cup competitions are going this way including the FA Cup, that’s why attendances are plummeting and teams are closing stands
I got it very close in the end, only change is Rylah at RWB instead of Enslin playing...
Mannion
Excited to see some of these players, especially Fullah, so I’m not grumbling.
