If the Comms team don’t have the capacity to cover the u21s couldn’t they ask for a volunteer from the fan base or a student who wants a bit of experience writing match reports?
I wonder if the lack of squad announcement for the game today has anything to do with tonight.
We know NJ doesn't like talking about injuries maybe he doesn't want the under 21 team announced in case it gives Stevenage an idea who is playing tonight
So we don't notice when they close the academy next summer : wibble:
The new fashion is not to close academies but to sell them, lock, stock, and barrel: players and coaching staff, equipment, and ground-lease if the right area.

I don't see any signs of the club considering backing away from the Academy, which would be not only a huge u-turn on previous policy but also a major breach with a very long-standing club tradition that we are a club that develops more than its fair share of talented youngsters.
I think we may be seeing signs that the club don't see allowing fans in to see games as a priority. The under-18s and the women's academy team (who are also effectively under-18s) already get a degree of secrecy applied to their games, mainly playing behind closed doors when at home and with very limited updates and few photos. There are good reasons to protect kids from publicity of course, and I doubt any of us have any objection to that, but it does seem a bit odd to have an under-21 game happening not just behind closed doors but also under a social media blackout.

Valley Gold members are allowed to watch the under 18 games at Sparrows Lane on presentation of their membership card.
Yesterday's game was no different to any other Academy fixture at Sparrows Lane. Valley Gold membership gets you in.
The communications team are under resourced at the moment despite there being budget provision for the extra posts.
I would like to read a decent report on the mystery game played yesterday. Something as simple as the team line ups, and substitutions, and mention of the goal scorers and times of the goals. A brief mention of the type of goal, as in long range shot, tap in, header from a corner or whatever would be a bonus. I suppose I shouldn’t complain because I am not in the promise a lot deliver a little Valley Gold scheme any more.

If it's down to a temporary shortage of staff in the comms team then that's good news because it means we can expect things to go back to more or less how we're used to once the issue is solved.

Why would they close down something that has produced numerous first team players?
