  • They put up a good fight but losing two players and Bannan to a red was a bit of a disaster for an already depleted squad. Maybe they are a good club to loan a player like Dixon, Kanu or Ahadme to for half a season. It will help them out and we get to see what the player can do at this level.
  • I'm drowning THEIR sorrows in a Kelham Island beer garden. (Sorry Craig).

What boozer? Kelham is a great place for a beer.
    Particularly Shakes.

I was in a Kelham Island beer garden literally a few hours ago...

I got chatting to a few blokes that had come up to Sheffield this afternoon from Leicester to try out the pubs. Seemed quite amusing.

I don't think a club with a lunatic owner, angry fans and a dire financial situation is a very good place to be loaning anyone, but most certainly not someone young like Kanu or Dixon. Ahadme seems to have got a little bit of mojo back too, packing him off to a circus like that seems pretty cruel honestly.
Well, he scored 2 in a friendly against Southend anyway .

Great support from their fans yesterday. I've read that some of their fans will be boycotting home games so they don't give Chansiri any money and will instead be doing loads of aways.

Overall though, glad they lost as despite our result on Saturday i'm not getting too carried away and i see them as a relegation rival for us. I want them and the likes of Preston, Oxford, Hull, Portsmouth etc to lose as many games as possible.
If we do our job, focus on ourselves keeping The Valley a fortress, we won't need to worry about any other teams. I see this season going similar to that 2nd season in the Premier League; a fairly comfortable mid-table finish.
  • Maybe I am being over confident but I don't see us going down. And if we do, Sheff Wednesday won't be the team that causes it. If we loaned them a player and that player scored goals, surely that benefits us especially if we can take them back in January. I get the point that it might be toxic there but it might benefit some players. Ultimately they know they are a Charlton player.

Also, I thought it was a nice touch the Leicester fans clapping the Wednesday fans. We are all football fans at the end of the day and we can go back to hating them when their club is not in danger. At this time we should empathise, especially given our recent history.
  • Alan Nixon says they are going to a points deduction but the EFL are delaying it right now for some reason ..

The situation around the club, training and everything else will undermine any positives you get from game time, it's not surprising players are getting injured for example.

John Textor teaming up with Keith Harris (not that one) on a bid.

Wasn't Harris involved with one of our takeovers?

  • They haven't even worked out what deductions to give Leicester and that's been known about ever since they were promoted last time. Takes so long that Wednesday points deduction will probably happen next season instead

Indeed If I was a PL club, that's the last place I'd loan a decent youngster. Somewhere with a toxic atmosphere and run down facilities would be a really testing environment.
  • Apparently enough work has been done on their North stand to get a safety certificate, so it will now be open for their home game this weekend.

Also a good effort from their kids tonight, they were one minute away from winning at Bolton. Five teenagers in the starting lineup, including both centre backs, and 9 of the 11 were 21 or under.

They played for 65 minutes against a league 1 side reduced to 10 men though.
Not saying they didn’t do ok, just a bit of context.
