Thought Jones & Ramsey were solid, Bell wasn’t great when he turned inside onto his right. Better league, but still same 💩 refs, player off the pitch “injured” ref plays on for about 30 secs then blows to stop the game. WTF. We also had 2 good shouts for pens in the second half.
Bell was great and am amazing upgrade!
Bell overplays it in defence - looked a bit casual at times. Need to deal with a high press a bit better.
Jones and Ramsay looked very assured.
Confident we can be competitive in the Championship- a decent subs bench.
Fuck knows what Kaminski was thinking on that non clearance haha, but overall I thought we played pretty well and edged it enough to deserve the win. Do need to become a bit more effective in the final third, but that will come as the season goes along. Bell was immense and Apter is going to be a huge issue for other teams this season. Kelman looked lost at times, but overall I think he was ok.
Knibbs with a cool finish.
All in all, a great start to the campaign. Not perfect by any means, some things need to be bulked up as we go along, but 3 points is 3 points.
Didn't think either shouts were pens. Edwards was bundled to the ground but was running at pace and I thought the attacker fell over Kaminski rather than being fouled by him.
Not seen any of the pre-season games and was impressed by Bell, Corey & Apter. Thought Oloafe brought much needed power & pace with 10 mins to go and could be the new Chuks.....a much fitter one at that !
Onto Bristol City next sat. Have my ticket & car parking space !
And as much as I love Doc, he looked way out of his depth out there. Hopefully, can get it back together next time out. Do have better options on the bench mind. Anyone else feel the same?
It has all been said on here. What a team! What a club! That was a pleasure to watch and win. I’m feeling really content with Charlton right now! And what a goal from Knibbs!! Beautiful weather and the Valley was rocking. It doesn’t get any better than that.
Doc does a lot of unsung work. All the players I know really rate him. Boring to watch but see what happens if he isn’t there All teams need one like him

Don’t agree - he runs around but doesn’t affect the game a lot . Great guy, good to have around but one I’d replace - we need more quality in there
Great win and thoroughly deserved. I know that people would highlight Leaburn and Olaofe, but a special word for the wand of a left foot that is Gillisphey, with him on we pinged balls into the danger area.
Great 1st match with the blend of last season's play off winning team and the new players.
I enjoyed Baah against Edwards. I have known Baah since he was 15 and first played in Mens football but Josh only lost one round against the strong two footed player who was eventually subbed as he couldn't emulate his two goals as a 17 year old down the covered end. I would've played Baah on the left to take on Rapter and force Ramsey more to the right.
Ramsey was supreme and even when he does a swing and a miss he gets away with it !
Charlie Kelman who had a quiet debut and Kaminski got away with a stonewall penalty but every player had a great mentality and a lovely 3 points for starters.
I said 2-1 but 1-0 and a clean sheet is excellent.
We seem to be dogged by success at the moment, no matter what we do. Playoff semi-final: win. Playoff final: win. First game of the season: last minute winner. Top of the league for a time.
On a more serious note, I thought all the new players did well. Kelman and Carey were perhaps a bit quiet, but the cameos by Tanto and Harvey Knibbs were just what we needed.
Bell looked classy, although the fella sitting behind me was convinced he was going to concede a goal by being too relaxed on the ball.
The standard of play was definitely 20% up on last season, and I think we may well improve over the next four or five games.
Not convinced it was really working with a little fella up top though, and I think I saw enough in Olaofe to believe he might be wasted as a 15 minute impact player.
Sorry but Carey quiet? Behave
Fair point. Tbh, I was struggling to differentiate between the new players a bit today, but I did notice some good work by him. Couple of outstanding bits of play be Apter in the second half too.
I’m looking forward to seeing some highlights. Will they be available on Charlton TV this season?
Excellent debuts from Carey, Apter and Bell. All the defenders were good but Ramsay was ridiculous and we’re so lucky to have him. Docherty and Coventry not a good enough partnership for this level so hopefully JRC can fix that. Few flashes of brilliance from TC but he struggled badly on the whole.
Ref was extremely odd. Other than stopping the game for a player off the pitch I thought he was excellent first half but some of those decisions in the second were absolutely baffling, with both sides having at least one blatant penalty each.

On to the cup against Stevenage.

The hope is that Kelman's issues is simply a lack of chemistry between him and the wide players which should improve with gametime.
TC needs to learn to calm down sometimes and just make the simple, progressive decision rather than forcing things.
Defense still as solid as lack season but think the midfield (Doc perhaps) may need to up the pace a bit.
The lord taketh away (Millwank go ahead)
Win lose or draw today I saw enough to think there will be three worse sides than us this season
