Bit shocked at the Hermantor pile-on - I would agree with him calling out Golfie’s whining. Then again, I’d also agree with the person who said just ignore it (I skip past anything he writes with 95% success usually). I think Golfie gets an easy ride on here considering how miserable and negative his contributions are but people are happy to regularly attack the harmless stuff Ronnie writes.

Here's how he matches Coventry, not much in it, Coventry covers more of the pitch, Taylor is a deep lying playmaker. Coventry better defensive stats, Terry wins more duels marginally.
You were cherry picking data, you ignored Greg Docherty's goals for example which are somewhat significant. I'm surprised that someone who goes to as many matches can't see the bigger picture. Granted Doc was poor in the first quarter/third of the season but it was a new club and maybe he lacked a bit of match sharpness, plus he was playing/learning a new system, possibly the more refined south London air was a factor. But then a lot of players were initially poor last season only to steadily improve. NJ tweaked the set up. In the last two thirds/back half of the season he was significantly better. Anyway, for me it's not about passes completed, tackles made or what he does on the ball, you need to look at what he does out of possession, how a player reads the game etc, this is why data can be a bit of a trap, it doesn't tell you anywhere near the entire picture. Any suggestion that he get dropped in the last half of the season would have been unthinkable.
I also asked for a like for like comparison when TT was playing for Charlton, you've not provided it....
My reason for asking is that different clubs are set up differently, TT was undoubtedly more of a big fish at Northampton than at Charlton, so I'd expect him to see more of the ball there and it might be that their style of play suited him better, that I don't know but they did have to work hard to dig themselves out of a hole and he was a big factor in that. All I remember is that they were utterly hapless when we played them before Christmas and were easily the worst side we played last season and that includes the sides we played in the Vertu Cup. For their fans his loan spell must have been like signing Messi compared to the player he replaced.
I still don't think NJ will be dropping either GD or CC to play him instead. Like I say he's not a bad player, he's just not a NJ style of player, I don't think he fits his system. It's a shame because he has talent.

I think Tanto will be the alternative to TC, with Kelman the alternative to Godden, though that could be where Apter ends up if RWB doesn't work out.

This place is crazy sometimes. We don't have enough CM's apparently (despite having 7 for 3 positions + Taylor) but the fact we were linked to a RWB means that the only player we have who has played RWB through pre season has actually been playing there out of convenience rather than plan. Is it not possible NJ just wants another option at RWB but Apter will also play there
I think Taylor’s time here is done personally. I’m indifferent. Unfortunate to get injured when he first signed, and if NJ allowed him to go out on loan whilst we were in League One, and having added Carey, JRC and Knibbs to a midfield three of Docherty, Coventry & Berry who were his first choices last season, I’m not sure where he fits in. We can’t forget that NJ likes Anderson and I also think he’s going to be someone who can help come on and protect leads this season as we look to close out games.
I know some may rate Taylor’s footballing ability, but I think it’s wrong place, wrong time for him.
I can see him, A Mitchell and Ahadme either sold or loaned out come the deadline.

It was so frustrating last season when we put our right back Ramsay at centre back, our winger TC up front and our left back Small at RWB and...proceeded to shoot up the table, finish 4th and get promoted via the Play-offs, losing a grand total of 4 games from the 30 we played once we'd started doing that.

Ramsey is the one that is super key for us to play more of winger than RWB.. I would suggest if Ramsey is injured, we would look at a more defensive player to play as more traditional RWB.
As Edwards is a little bit more defensive on the left side, he drops in, and allows Ramsey to get a little wider than traditional RCB.
For this reason, I don't think we actually play with RWB, it is more of a wide forward, which Apter plays very well.
I do think we will bring a RB/RWB in during the window to provide cover, or if we change our approach during the season
